Lydia has gone through 13 tournaments without a solo top 5 finish; clearly not a recipe to stay as No. 1.

Jessica is not playing again. I think she mentioned something about an injury on Instagram, after HSBC. She said she hope that she will be healthy next time she plays there. Brooke Pancake is on the alternate list. I mentioned her because they had a lot of fun with her name at US Amateur. They had a nice chat with her about it. Edit. I made a mistake. I guess I missed Jessica name, because she is on the list. So Yeon is the only player with top tens in all three of her tournaments.

SoYeonFanSo Yeon is No. 7 on Player of the Year race; a win will get her to the top.

I checked several places and can't find results of the Monday qualifier.
I wonder how Shi Hyun Ahn was picked as a sponsor invite. Obviously, she would be comfortable coming to CA (she was based here during her LPGA days), but I don't see any Kia or Hyundai logos on her attire from last year. Maybe they signed her up this year.

Shi Hyun Ahn won the Kia Korea Open last year, so assuming that's why she got the invite.

Hmmm, no mention of Inbee as a likely win or a watch for? She's in top form, and has a 2nd and 5th place finish at Aviara in the past two years.

In Gee needs a great tournament to get back in contention for a Vare repeat. She is way behind SHP and SYR. She's 10 strokes behind; but there are many more tournaments to go. More importantly, she needs to prove she can beat So Yeon, Sung Hyun, Inbee and Ha Na on a regular basis; which she hasn't done this year or last year. Kia is an important tournament; we'll see a healthy In Gee in her full flight for the first time. The Vare is won based on how the players do at the tough tournaments, not the bunny courses. If there happen to be any tough tournaments, that is. Not a given, seeing how the courses have been so far...

Even though I'm taking this week off from work as I did last year, unlike last year, I won't be attending the tournament, alas. But I did buy a Kia yesterday!
