champs.usga.org/EntryForms/womensopen_2017.pdfGotta love the USGA's thumb-in-the-eye timing...they opened the application process today for playing this event on July 13-16 at Mr. Orange's northern retreat...meanwhile, today is International Women's Day. The form above has the 25 qualifying sites. The list of qualifying exemption criteria might be longer than ever.

It's that time of the year again; the $ 5.0 million purse is almost 4 times of those minimum tournaments.
The winner's share is $900,000, more than 5 times of a minimum LPGA tournament.

The occupant of the Oval Office, and let this be the ABSOLUTE last time he is referred to in this thread. Unlike past year's threads of this championship you will no doubt notice that Phil did not include the name of the venue in the title since that would also necessitate mentioning this particular person. The 2018 mid terms can't come soon enough.Kevin

The pic posted by 18majors is the 16th hole of the Old Course. The back tee is 216 yards and behind the clubhouse, but obviously they hit from closer when I attended the 2009 US Girls Junior first round matches. The driving range was to the right of the nest of trees on the right side of the photo. Per The Archives, some of the "names" I saw in 2009 were Kim Kim, Annie Park, Jenny Shin, Kristen Park, Jennifer Johnson, Amy Anderson, J. Korda, two Lendl sisters, and Ivan Lendl. Here's what I wrote about the food situation, which I redacted today for sensitive individuals:
I killed a little time before Kim Kim’s 12:33 PM match. You could get a ‘T**** hotdog’ combo or a ‘T**** burger’ combo for $9. A yogurt cup was $2. No thanks...my pockets were stuffed with granola bars I brought from home. On the course, I grabbed a 12 oz. bottle of T**** Ice spring water from a cooler at a tee box - NOT as good as Poland Spring.

philknjI played there in 2005 on a complimentary foursome from the club; they tried to entice us to pony up $500,000.00 each to become a member. Everything was offered; caddies, food, drinks, clubhouse facilities and the list goes on and on. They had only one 18 hole course at the time. The course was young and wide open; it was meticulous and impeccable. But, I's not good enough a golfer to rate it.

After checking the entrant status, it's now official: I'll see Sky Kim for the 2nd time in five years. Another foreign exempt player who paid her $200 is Su Yeon Jang...a smart shutterbug (me?) should try to get a group shot of Team Hampyeong (Jang, MHL, & Dumbo)...with MHL in the middle, of course. Muni He and Naomi Ko are definitely in...non-exempt, of course, they'll have to qualify somewhere.

Top-5 on the 2016 JLPGA and KLPGA money lists are exempt...but, BML is skipping this one...unless I become a global traveler, I'll probably never see her in person.

Holy crap, you talking about the one and only Ha Neul Kim? I'd been planning on attending anyways, but this news gives me stomach butterflies. I am pretty sweet on that chick.
