Congratulations to Sei Young Kim!
I'll admit I didn't see this one coming. When there were only two Koreans left after the second round, and one was MJ Hur, who had a daunting set of possible opponents, and the other was Sei Young, who has underperformed this year... Well, it looked grim for the Koreans.
But MJ really upped her game, dispatching Pettersen, Ko and Feng before falling to Sei Young in the semis.
Apparently on the final hole of her match with Wie, Michelle was left with a short par save, and MJ wisely had Wie putt it -- and she missed. If I were going against Wie in match play, she would putt EVERYTHING. Tap ins, she would putt those, too. "Sorry Michelle" MJ said afterwards. Yeah, sorry but not sorry I'd wager.
Sei Young showed that she is the best Korean closer this side of Inbee. Ariya was really playing well, but Sei Young would not be denied. She later said this was her toughest win, and I don't doubt it; to capture a match play tournament, you usually can't relax, because even a mediocre golfer can catch fire and give you trouble if you're not careful.
Enjoy your margarita, Sei Young!

If someone other than May won, I'm happy it was Sei Young...she seems like a pistol! Love her high energy and emotion. I've also been a long time Mi Jung fan...the beauty of liking 95% of the players is that even when I'm disappointed, I'm not really all that disappointed.
I'm more disappointed in the powers that be not having this on Golf Channel...although some of those television images...well, a lot to be completely honest, would have revealed galleries that were either sparse or non-existent.
Some of the video I saw looked like a Symmetra tour event.

Been a fan of Sei Young since her first LPGA win. Love the way she hits it, high and long. Personality is underrated too. She doesn't seem to show up much except to win. Six wins since 2015 is:
-more than Ariya -same as Inbee -and second only to Lydia
I think she is also the only player besides Lydia with wins in 2015, 2016, and 2017 to date.
Brittany Lincicome said 2017 was going to be the American womens' year but really it belings to the Koreans so far. Two wins for USA versus RoK's 6.5 (Nomura counts as half right?).

Counting Nomura is a 1/2 win is something the Americans would do and should be beneath us. But it isn't so 6.5 it is.

I expected to see SYK's picture on the splash page, in place of one of the players no longer able to win at the highest level.

Just a question -- They keep referring to the exhibition match as being between four Hall of Famers, but Lorena isn't in the Hall, right? Didn't she quit the tour too early? I don't recall her being added despite that. Just wondering.

HappyFanLorena isn't a LPGA Hall of Famer; but she'll be induced into World Hall of Fame this coming September.

So Yeon is the only player to average over $100,000 per event this year.

" You usually can't relax because even a mediocre player can catch fire and give you trouble."
That's what happened to So Yeon and Sei Young at the International Crown. When they lost to two players who played way over their heads. They hardly did anything after that win.

Interesting clip about So Yeon: www.usatoday.com/story/sports/golf/2017/04/25/stricker-denied-special-exemption-to-us-open-in-wisconsin/100897722/JUST A COLLEGE KID: ANA Inspiration winner So Yeon Ryu said some of her best times were in the classroom, even when she was winning LPGA majors. Ryu was a junior at Yonsei University in South Korea when she won the 2011 U.S. Women's Open, the most prestigious event in women's golf. She still stayed in school, bringing her school work on the road the following year when she was LPGA rookie of the year. The best part was being just another student, not a world-class golfer. "The 18-year-old kids don't know a lot about golf in Korea. They were just friends," she said. "But their parents were fans of me. Back then, so many of my friends would say: 'Why do my parents like you? You must be famous. Why are you sometimes on TV?' They never judged me. They never see me as a professional golfer. They were just really great friends." She graduated in February 2013 with a degree in sports business.

I can't be more disappointed at the Golf Channel. Not only they keep showing Michelle Wie and the like, but they also scale back their investment in LPGA.
Randell Mell used to attend some LPGA tournaments, this year he's like one of us watching it from afar.
Michael Whan is also like one of us; unless he starts a LPGA TV channel.
May be we should get together and start a LPGA channel. It won't be that difficult, we can get Korean funding and none of us needs any salary.

I wish I'd badmouthed Blasberg like the others. It's too late now.
