english.donga.com/List/3/06/26/807492/1A senior at the department of international sports science at Korea University, Chun will graduate from the school in February next year. “I have been completely tied up these days. I have to do study that I put off due to participation in overseas tours, and take the final exam," she said. "I will finish my final exam with a sports Japanese test tomorrow, and I have mixed feelings of freedom and sadness. My friends helped me out a lot.” Since Chun had to take the "athletic learning and psychology" test on Tuesday, she was late for a ceremony to pledge her 100 million-won (84,000 U.S. dollars) donation, which took place at Korea University. Her donation will be operated as a fund for the "Social Contribution Program with Chun In-gee." After graduating from Korea University, Chun also plans to share ideas on volunteer service with the university’s students, select beneficiaries from among the underprivileged, including children, teenagers, senior citizens and handicapped people, and provide assistance. "Flying Dumbo," her fan club with about 9,000 members, will also join a fundraising campaign for the fund. Chun has been making donations to the Beautiful Foundation and her alma mater Hampyeong Golf High School every year. “I have agonized over how to make donations. I have sought a way through which I can take part in person, and that is sustainable rather than a one-off event," Chun said. "Even if I have to skip competitions, I will come to Korea and join my fans to participate in volunteer activities.” Chun announced her plan to take on new challenge in the LPGA amid high expectations around this time of the year last year. Unknowingly, she has now emerged as an ace player of the Korean female golf community. She won the Evian Championship with the fewest par ever, and acquired not only the LPGA Rookie of the Year award but also the Bear Trophy (fewest par prize). She saw her world ranking to hit No. 3, the highest among the Korean golfers. Chun stopped by a golf driving range for the first time in more than a month on Tuesday, and lightly warmed up her body. On January 3, she will leave for Orlando, Florida, where she will start training to prepare for the 2017 season. “My biggest wish in the New Year is to stay healthy and not to fall ill," Chun said. "Only then will I be able to make strides. Please root for me."

As we all know, Dumbo is not stupid. Do the math. A $84,000 donation (let's assume a marginal tax rate of 40%) and we have a net layout of $50,000. I've gotta believe Dumbo is near a 3 year expiry with her current larger sponsors....this generous charitable 'image' can parlay into multi million dollar donations for her charm and good community persona image.
If the LPGA's 'nice girl" with only 1 win...Gulbis....can attract many multiple sponsors...then Dumbo should make any NASCAR driver look like vanilla.

We all know of the Dumbo, NYC, Inky, Amy Yang, Jenn Song, etc ....even Ko donated some money (can remember which event...not a large sum) etc donations...am I missing something....has there been other LPGA pro public donations....if yes...please advise? So is this Korean public donations a deliberate initiative to help remove the image that they are ruining the LPGA? I did a Google...yes...it's only one article....but S. Korea is only middle of the pack in a world donation index. www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2010/sep/08/charitable-giving-country

Or maybe she's a generous athlete who knows what it's like to be down and out and wants to give back? Believe me, she will not be hurting for sponsor money when she signs her next deals.

Are you out your mind? - You should never question anybody's charity donation. Show me any donations by Annika Sorenstam?
- Image is earned through style, personality and charisma; it can't be bought.
- In Gee doesn't need to spend money to earn her next endorsements. Companies are fighting to get a piece of her.

Thanks, you put it much better than I did. What would motivate someone to paint a great charitable act as an attempt to gain something? I just don't get it.

Happyfan and 18majors....the Smiling Buddha is such a great fisherman....every time he makes a cast....you guys along with others fall....hook, lime and sinker. Ya never see guys like Phil or fanofseri reply because they know sarcasm....just like it's pretty obvious when Phil and fanofseri are yanking our chain.
I'm still laughing how SayYouSeRi got so mad and quit this forum because of fanofseri's sarcastic FAKE comment....the FAKE comment will go down in HOF infamy...POST OF THE CENTURY.....nuff said.
But truly the FUNNIEST thing SayYouSeRi has done is rant to Xtina only to be thrown under the bus by her and then started to shake and cry when the LPGA security team corralled him into the holding cell to fingerprint him and created his BINDER profile. It's a shame no one will likely ever meet him cause I gotta believe he'll never attend another LPGA event. I don't think he golfs...so the LA boys will not bump into him on the links. I've also gotta believe his Se Ri car vanity plates are gone....he'd be a huge target for the LAPD to pull over for no apparent reason.

Mannika has no money to donate....all her disposable income is re-invested back into her JUICE factory.

In Gee will be back to Orlando on January 3, 2017; that would be the official start of 2017 LPGA season for me.
With college life behind her; I've nothing but optimism for her 2017 season even if her back is still questionable.
Yani Tseng won 7 times in 2011 including 2 majors; that's a good goal for In Gee to shoot for in 2017.

Dumbo doesn't have a back problem, she has a boyfriend problem. Hope she dumps that guy ASAP.

Dumbo doesn't have a back problem, she has a boyfriend problem. Hope she dumps that guy ASAP. LPGA golfers don't have a marriage problem, but they've a child bearing problem. According to a report, www.huffingtonpost.com/robin-marantz-henig/whats-the-best-age-to-hav_b_2206136.html, it's best to have a last baby before age 35. By that logic, In Gee probably won't be married until age 27-28. Five more LPGA seasons for In Gee, that's it.

In Gee was named one of BuzzFeed's "14 Asian Women who are Changing the World". 14 Asian Women who are Changing the WorldShe came in at #11, and yes, in two sentences about her they managed a factual error (she has been a pro for four+ years!). Still, she made the list, which is cooool!
