In Gee went for the pins today; 9 birdies, 4 bogeys and 5 pars. She is even for the tournament.
She probably goes for the pins again tomorrow; she might as well enjoy the the roller coaster ride if she isn't going to win.
Edit: It didn't look that way at the time, but In Gee shot low round of the day.

Just checked back and saw that she made bogey on eighteen.

If Divot Girl folds up tomorrow, then it could be anyone's tournament...but she made birdie at #18, while Kotone Hori made bogey. Fantastic moving day for In Gee! Her 66 was low round of the day I believe, and now just five shots back, halving the distance from yesterday. Given there are some relative unknowns near the top of the leaderboard, if she can come out and shine tomorrow, she has a decent chance to win. At the very least I hope she can produce some magic tomorrow and give it a good run. Go In Gee!!! The Final Round Queen Jiyai Shin is primed for a run at this one, too. She's won Majors before, she's a top talent on this tour, and tough conditions suit her just fine. Go Jiyai! Alas, not a great day three for Ha Neul, but if she posts a good score the breaks could go her way. Go Sky! Sisters Hwaiting!

In Gee finished the tournament at -1, tied for 4th.
I'm not sure why she played Japan instead of LPGA. It'd be justifiable only if she wins; not otherwise.
She will get Rolex ranking points, but at a reduced rate. She will lose a ton on LPGA stats; like player of the year, race to CME, official money and so forth.
May be she's started to prepare for Tokyo Olympics, or there are channels for endorsement.
Edit: The prize money was OK, In Gee got a tie 3rd check (US$ 88,000) because the winner is a 17 years old amateur.

Kotone Hori was in the lead, barely, but then I don't know what happened. The next replay is Sunday at 9:30 EST, with more to follow. Pretty pathetic for the pros to let this happen, although the winner was built like a baby Sei Young Kim. Hori has a stiff-wristed swing, similar to Ritsuko Ryu Mika Miyazato(+7) and Sky Kim(+4) JY Shin and Dumbo Mi Hyang Lee(+3) and Ayaka Matsumori(+10) Shiho Oyama(+10) and SY Kang(+13)

Good come back by In Gee to tie for fourth place, after starting near the cut line.
Looks like Chie Arimura try for the LPGA tour is over. She probably will stay on the JLPGA tour, where she is more comfortable.

Good come back by In Gee to tie for fourth place, after starting near the cut line. Looks like Chie Arimura try for the LPGA tour is over. She probably will stay on the JLPGA tour, where she is more comfortable. She might have meant temporarily, but I took this statement a while back on Instagram as a goodbye to playing in America. more pics and video on my blog: Nasa Hataoka Wins 2016 Japan Women's OpenNasa HataokaHistory was made at the 2016 Japan Women’s Open as 17-year old amateur Nasa Hataoka bested an elite field that included Major winners Jiyai Shin and In-Gee Chun finishing in the top 5 to take the title at the third Major of the JLPGA season. Hataoka used a 3-under 68 (par is 71 here) to move to 4-under overall, vaulting from tied for 5th at the start of the day to a 1 shot victory over Kotone Hori. Nasa also bested the feat of another big name in women’s golf as she became the youngest ever winner of the Japan Women’s Open, far surpassing the previous record of Ai Miyazato, who won the 2005 Japan Women’s Open at 20 years old. Mayumi Hirase, then 20 when she won the 1989 Lady Borden Cup (now the JLPGA Tour Championship Ricoh Cup), was the youngest Major winner in JLPGA history. Until now. No amateur had ever won a JLPGA Major. Again, until now. Minori NaganoAs impressive as a 17-year old amateur in her third year of high school winning a JLPGA Major is, it could have been even more impressive had 15-year old first year high school student Minori Nagano taken the title. She slept on a 5-under 2 shot lead after round 3. Maybe it was too much pressure for the youngster. Sure, Hataoka is young as well, but at least she has the experience of winning back to back IMG Academy Junior World Championship titles last year and this year at Torrey Pines. Also, it’s probably easier for a teenage amateur to chase the lead rather than hold it overnight, dealing with the nerves and pressure, not to mention all the media attention. Ultimately, Nagano fell apart with a 7-over 78 to fall from 1st to a tie for 10th. She wasn’t even the 2nd leading amateur in the end as Yuna Nishimura slipped into a tie for 6th place. But a tie for 10th at a Major is fantastic for a 15-year old amateur. Hopefully, Nagano will use this experience to grow as a player. 1 NASA HATAOKA (-4) with In-Gee Chun

I actually managed to watch a little of the final round. Surprisingly, they showed very little of In Gee until near the end when she started to make a move. Basically, In Gee hovered between 1 under and 2 under most of the day. The lead was around 5 under and sometimes 4 under most of the day, so it looked like she just wasn't doing enough to get the job done. Then, she made birdie on the par 3 16th to move to 2 under, and the leaders fell to 3 under, and suddenly, In Gee was right in it. Had she managed to post 3 or 4 under she might have taken the title. She got to the super tough par 4, 490 yard 17th and hit her drive left into the rough. She was faced with an approach where the ball was about a foot below her feet, and she had to carry the water fronting the green. She hit the shot, and they switched to the reverse angle, where it looked like her ball landed in the water. NO! She was on the collar, a small chip away from an up and down par. Alas, she hit what might be the worst chip I have ever seen from her, knocking the ball about 20 feet past the hole. She failed to save par (barely) and that was that. It did not start as a good week at all, and yet she willed herself into contention. That she had any chance at all to win was amazing considering her first two rounds. Of course it would have been better to see her win, but no one wins 'em all, and all things considered, I think she did a swell job. In four Majors in Japan, she has won twice, finished 4th in another and 6th in the other. I was a little disappointed that Jiyai Shin didn't do better. She is the Final Round Queen, she was well located on the leaderboard, and has won Majors in Japan before. Still, a top five isn't bad at all. Also, credit to Ji Hee Lee; the very first shot I saw in the coverage was her dunking an ace on the 11th hole. Nice way to start watching! Sisters Hwaiting!

Once bitten, twice shy; hope In Gee won't pair with Teresa Lu ever again. She played poorly the first two rounds while pairing with Teresa; and she played poorly while losing to Teresa at International Crown in July.
In Gee shot the best score of the last two rounds; she beat the winner by a score of 136 to 138.

As I said before, I could see In Gee catching Ariya if she keeps playing Evian level golf the rest of the year. I can't see her catching Lydia this year under any circumstances. But if she keeps it up, anything is possible, even, eventually, the #1. I'm keeping the faith.
