Hi folks!
I decided to start a thread containing stuff about both the men and the women's golf in Rio. Reason: they are playing the same course, and it should be instructive in prep for the ladies to see how the men play. Plus, it's the Olympics and kind of a special case!
Have at it!

Gil Hanse, the architect designed Rustic Canyon in Moorpark,CA. It is always my first suggestion for a place to play in Southern California if you don't have much money to spend.
It is a shame Spieth, Dumbo Johnson, McIlroy, Matsuyama and the others didn't have a change of heart. Golf isn't as much fun when you don't have someone to root against. I hope a long shot wins the men's competition.

Not enough C-Level people at the event for $peith to show up. Day is just a hypochondriac so I understand. I don't like Rory anyway.

Golf isn't as much fun when you don't have someone to root against. How about loudmouth Patrick Reed? But, sometimes he's able to back it up. Don't forget about Bubba the Clown. You never know how he'll react to any situation...if he starts getting mushy and weepy, ugh. ************* Jeunghun Wang, Byeong Hun An and team coach K.J. Choi of South Korea practice bunker shots on the seventh hole during practice for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at the Olympic Golf Course on August 9, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. (Photo by Stan Badz/PGA Tour/IGF) I've heard of An, but who is this guy Wang? I looked up Kevin Na at the PGA Tour's website. It says he was born in Seoul, but they've got an American flag next to his name...Wikeipedia says he became a naturalized U.S. citizen. ******** I'd like to see the women's side boil down to a one-on-one rematch in the final round between the Kiwi Princess and the Canadian Princess...aside from that, I don't care about it. ******** When the Olympics is finished, I assume this venue will be a public golf course, right? I doubt it will be cheap...probably affordable for politicians and kidnappers only.

I used to dislike Reed but he is ok. I'm not a big Bubba fan, but there is almost no one in the game who is more fun to watch, especially in person.
The best thing about the Olympics is that world class creep Spieth has been exposed as a fraud and he will have an asterisk next to his name for the rest of his career. Johnson is too dumb to know what he is missing.
I'm a little surprised at the Aussies, I thought they were supposed to be such tough guys (I saw Crocodile Dundee twice).
If Tiger still played golf and qualified for the Olympics, he would have played. Then, a phony like McIlroy, would have never have had the guts to withdraw.
The first shot hasn't been played, but Olympic golf is a hit and there is no danger it will ever be dropped from the games.
Let's get the men's tournament out of the way and see the women.

The women's event is the main event in golf. No doubt about it. Can't wait to see golf channel next week. Live from Rio, the Wyndham Championship.

I think (and I might get flamed for this) , like Ha Na , she plays up her bubbly personality to the media quite a bit.

Chinese people are loud and rude....e.g.) go to Chinatown, or that Go China Go fangirl from the IC or The Smiling Buddha is a prime example....so the Chinese appreciate the showboating of Fu. As I've said before...Ha Na needs to tell the Koreans to FO and speak with Shanshan how to become a Chinese citizen...nuff said

Live From: had a segment on Wednesday on Byeong Hun An, who is the offspring of two table tennis medalists in the 1988 Games in Seoul. The piece focused on the genesis of their relationship, unique for its era, as Ben's mother, Jiao Zhimin, is Chinese.
She and Ahn Jae Hyung first met at a competition in Pakistan in the mid '80s and were smitten with each other despite the language barrier. Since China and South Korea did not have formal relations at the time they had to keep their budding relationship a secret, exchanging letters through mutual friends when they weren't both at the same event. By the time the 1988 Olympics in Jae Hyung's homeland came around, however, the secret was out. It seemed the Chinese were the most dissatisfied with it: when Jiao reached the semifinals of the women's singles tournament only to have another Chinese player facing her, she was ordered to throw the match in the belief that her opponent stood a better chance of winning gold in the final. Though Jiao would win the consolation final for the bronze medal to go with the silver in women's doubles she was distraught until the Korean team doctor assured her that Ahn (who won bronze in the men's doubles) would still be by her side. The couple married in Sweden in 1989 and gave birth to Byeong Hun two years later.
