They have some Korea vs. Japan event in the fall....Phil and Happy would know more details. I think they canceled it. Probably because it has become so lop-sided that no one is willing to sponsor it ?

"I actually believe the Korean team is probably the toughest team to make in all of professional sports."
Ain't that the truth!

The Korean players are strong and inspiring. But, not nearly as tough as the Korean shopkeepers defending their turf in K-Town in April 1992. Not even close.

Ariya had to often work a lot to save par (and usually succeeded, but as I said, you'll have a short career at the top if you are expecting to be able to do that all the time). In Gee, meanwhile, was usually missing by just a tad (albeit there were a lot of tads last week). I can see those putts starting to fall as she gets more acclimated, and if so, watch out. I guess you've never heard of FIGJAM.....46 pro wins worldwide....including 5 REAL majors. Doesn't matter how it gets done...lowest total score wins for the week.

I think early in the year, mr3 said IGC will win one tournament this year. That is realistic. Let's see how my prediction pans out. The thing I noticed about Dumbo was that she seemed to bothered by some small stuff asking the few spectators at times to move away from the ropes or backing off a shot. She's not the only one. The galleries weren't huge on Thurs. These gals need to toughen up and not be bothered by the slightest thing or noise. They'd all shoot 89 if they were paired with GOAT #2 and all the distractions his playing partners encountered.

I guess when Whan reads your above post he'll never pair any of the Seoul Sisters with Sadena Parks, GOAT #2's niece, Mariah Stackhouse, Lizette Salas or Gaby Lopez.

The obvious dark house is Team England....ya gotta love the spunk and in your face attitude of Charley, Mel and Jodi in match play...they should bump Clyburn and put in Dame Laura.....then they would be the fav to win the IC.

I'd love to see the Solheim Cup changed to Americas vs. Europe vs. Asia/Australia/Kiwi-land. Get Lydia, Minjee, Gabe, and Brooke into the mix. Nationalism is the key to these events. We watch because the players are so passionate about playing for their teams/countries. This Unfortunately the Yanks will destroy the Euros in Des Moines....I will surely vomit listening to all the "USA USA all the way"cr*p on TV....if they are going to lose .....at least Mannika's 4 captain's picks should be eye candy.

How come Korea doesn't have a tournament named after Nancy Lopez?

We watch because the players are so passionate about playing for their teams/countries. Once you try to incorporate more players for the sake of star power, you risk turning it into a All-Star game. And we all know how much the fans care for the All-Star games... Europe isn't a country. What you may mean is that the Americans don't like to team with anyone else. I don't think the Ryder/Solheim Cup have been hurt by having a joint Euro team. The Lexus Cup was very cool, and very competitive, despite the fact it was Asia vs. Rest of the World. Let's face it: Asia vs. West is the real rivalry in women's golf right now, and they are dropping the ball by not exploiting it. You don't think the Americans and Euros could get up for trying to take down the Koreans/Thais/Chinese/Japanese? The reasons the Lexus Cup died were many, but it came down to an event taking place in December, with no TV coverage in the West, no season-long qualifying procedure (a player got on the team because the captain or sponsor wanted her -- Lexus picked a few strange low-ranked players to keep the Asian team from being too Korean), and really no marketing on the part of the LPGA at all. But the match was great. Ah well, the International Crown isn't perfect, but it's better than nothing!

But the match was great. Ah well, the International Crown isn't perfect, but it's better than nothing! I knew someone is going to bring up the European team. This should probably be best answered by an anthropologist or sociologist. Why does the European Ryder/Solheim Cup team shows such passion and enthusiasm even though they are from different nations? Not to mention the cups don't have purses. Millionaires golfers are essentially playing purely for pride and honor. 1, History and prestige of the event The Ryder Cup started out in the 1920s between America and Britain. Only in the 1970s was the roster expanded to include all European, mainly because the competition had become too lopsided in favor of the Americans. By that time it incorporated the whole Europe, the cup has already 50 years of history. And as in most sporting events, prestige comes with history. (If the International Crown can somehow last another 20 or so years, I am convinced that it will be bigger than Solheim.) 2, Everyone wants to beat the Americans America is this rich new world golfing nation, with by far more courses than any other countries. Even though golf is not a popular sport in most parts of Europe, it doesn't stop the "old world" from wanting to beat this evil empire of golf. It would not be the same if the Europeans is up against a team made up of Canada, USA, and Mexico. 3, There is a natural "kinship" among people of similar appearance and background. We are naturally drawn to people who looks like ourselves and shares certain cultural background, even though we may speak different languages. Eg, K-drama is hugely popular among Chinese. A lot of Europeans can speak several languages because of the common origin of those. Most of the times I cannot name half of the European Ryder/Solheim team. But it doesn't matter. The audience feeds off the passion and enthusiasm of the players. Meanwhile I know the whole "Rest of the World" teams in the President's Cup, but I can't watch one hour of it without dozing off. The Lexus Cup is a flawed concept. Had it got an audience other than Happy Fan, it would still be here today. East vs the West ?? Sorry, I doubt Suzann cares to be in the same team as Paula Creamer, nor Ariya cares to be playing with Inbee Park. America vs Korea. Now we are talking. But since LPGA is labeling itself as a global tour, I doubt they will sanction something so "non-inclusive"
