Who knew the Korean word for "short game" is "short game." The Scottish invented golf; the Koreans invented "short game".

It's clear that Aditi Ashok's -7 wasn't going to win; hope she wasn't too disappointed.

In Gee's new hair didn't earn her a LPGA win; but it brought a spurt of new life into her sagging Instagram page.

Congratulations to Sung Hyun for the win. The chip in on eighteen sort of sealed the deal, although some players had a mathematical chance to win. Great second place for Lindy Duncan, thanks to a great finish.
Another top ten for Jin Young Ko, but really not a good round. A great iron player like she is, with ball in hand, should have done better than minus two. Only hit eleven greens....twenty eight putts saved her round. She hardly ever hit bad iron shots.... however she needs to rethink her club selection. Even on the KLPGA, she hit too many shots too long.
Mi Hyang at minus 5, was one of the low rounds of the day. It got her a top ten. On the live stream they almost showed her. I guess she took too long to putt, so they moved to someone else. Never to be seen again.

Best shot of the year for the Koreans: Park's chip in here to win, or Eun Hee Ji's hole-in-one at the Kia? The ace was more impressive, but the chip-in more necessary.
What do you all think?

Eun Hee Ji’s hole in one for sure. A hole in one is much more dramatic than a chip in, and Ji had more accomplished players just behind her. A playoff with Lindy Duncan would seem to heavily favor Sun Hyun Park, whereas Cristie Kerr (or Lizette Salas) would make a playoff more of a toss up. (But the shot of the year so far is Lydia’s 3 wood to the green in San Francisco for sure. Going to take quite a shot to bump that one!)

SH P: chip-in birdie and 1 shot victory EH J: hole-in-one and 2 shot victory Seems as though they were equally necessary. Since Eun Hee's shot happened at 14, it's not as dramatic as Terminator's shot on the 18th. If we're talking about drama, then Lydia's 3-wood at Merced and Michelle's putt from off the green in Singapore are right up there with Terminator.

The pieces continue to move closer together. I wonder if she'll visit nearby Altus Performance before going to SC. She confirmed playing in Kingsmill and I'm sure she'll play Volvik, USWO, and Shop-Rite after that. Not sure about Meijer...she'll probably skip it. ******* Nice of MU Sports to give daddy a wardrobe, too, although I have doubts about their designs looking good on guys. https://www.instagram.com/p/BidpWskAtVY

philknjMi Hyang Lee is blessed to have a fan like you. You single handedly bring her to our shared consciousness. Nowadays, I make a point to look up her scores when I glimpse through LPGA's leaderboard.

It was a weird week to say the least.
For a change, the Koreans got the lucky breaks, and none more so than Sung Hyun, who had two chip-ins in her final round. And she needed both of them, because she won by just a single shot.
She also was lucky to be in the wave she was in. In Gee's wave only managed to get one person into the top ten. In Gee missed out, but she was close, and I think had she been in Sung Hyun's wave, she probably would have had a top ten. So a decent comeback tournament for her.
Interestingly, the last four Rookies of the Year (and the current ROY leader) were all in the top 12 on the leaderboard: '14 Lydia, '15 Sei Young Kim, '16 In Gee Chun, '17 Sung Hyun Park, and Jin Young Ko. They even talked about the strong rookies on the broadcast, which was cool.
Congrats to Namdalla, and nice week for the other top Sisters. Hwaiting!
