Where is Ha Neul Kim? Jiyai Shin? And others ranked inside the world top 50 who aren't here this week. I wonder if they were invited. Sorry for being an asshole but I'm starting to think that this tournament is kind of a joke.
I have to assume they declined the invite. Hye Jin (10), Ha Na (29), Ai Suzuki (25), and Ji Hyun Kim (61) are in the field, so it appears that some non-LPGA players were invited.
It doesn't appear that Ha Neul or Jiyai played last year. Bo Mee Lee, and Jin Young both played last year as non-members.

The point loss each week is uneven, but the general rule is the more points you have, the more you lose each week.
Let's say In Gee loses 2.00 and Shanshan loses 4.00 this coming week; In Gee wins and Shanshan finishes outside Top 40.
In Gee will have 335.37/48=6.9869, Shanshan 341.51/49=6.9696.
In Gee will be No. 1 if all other high ranked players don't do well.
Don't players lose the depreciated points that they earned two years ago on a weekly basis?
Lydia earned 100 RR points for her 2016 ANA victory. Although, those points are now worth less because Rolex points for the most recent 13 weeks carry more value than the previous 91 weeks, she will lose those depreciated ANA points when the rankings come out next week.
I don't know how you assume In Gee loses 2 points and Shanshan loses 4 points.
In Gee was T2 at the 2016 ANA, Shanshan was T50. I think In Gee has more points to lose.
The Rolex Rankings share the established men's world rankings philosophy of awarding points based on the field strength and evaluate a player's performance over a rolling two-year period weighted in favor of the current year with even more importance placed on the most recent 13 weeks. Points are reduced in 91 equal decrements following week 13 for the remaining 91 weeks of the two-year Rolex Ranking period.
Only 0.55 of the 50 points In Gee earned for 2016 ANA is still remained.
One interesting thing about this Major: a KLPGA golfer has never won it. I'm not even remembering a KLPGAer who seriously got into the hunt, and there are always a few of them here each year. I wonder if the fact that this event happens before the proper KLPGA season starts has something to do with it? Is it the 'Indio effect' greens? The fact that it plays easier for long hitters usually? Or just a coincidence?
At the US Women's Open, you've had In Gee and So Yeon claim wins while still KLPGA members, while Sung Hyun Park came up just short. At the British, there was Jiyai Shin, and Jin Young Ko finished second in 2015. At the Evian, there was Hyo Joo Kim. I'm not sure the KLPGA is even invited to the KPMG (but they have no wins there, either).
But the ANA? Nada. It will be interesting to see if Six, Hyejin or one of the other KLPGA ladies can break that streak this year.

I have a pet theory that there's always a good chunk of this tournament field that doesn't want to win, and have to do the compulsory cannonball in front of the whole world. I know that for me it would rank last among the five majors. I'd probably rank it below some non-major tournaments too. And yes, I am in a cranky mood lately.
