Make-up artist or Photoshop editor should get some kind of prize for the job they did on Ha Na here. BTW only 1,254 followers.

So if The Smiling Buddha set-up an Instagram account...will everyone here follow him?
He'll be sharing lots of interesting things in his life like: Watching him paint his house, make a sandwich, brush his teeth, chunk a chip, 4 jack, etc etc.

In Gee's reached 26,864 followers; she's been adding about 100 new followers a day. Her rate of increase is similar to Michelle Wie, less than Lexi and Bo Mee, but faster than all other golfers.
During the Evian Championship, she's adding close to 1,000 a day.

In Gee passed Brooke Henderson on Instagram followers, 27,163 to 27,153.
Golfers added more followers than In Gee recently are Michelle, Natalie, Lexi and Bo Mee.
Since both majors and Olympics are over; now is the slow period for LPGA players. Michelle, Natalie, Lexi and Bo Mee are celebrities; they have non-golf fans and are less affected. Paula, Cheyenne and Lydia have large follower bases, but their patterns are like other golfers.

LPGA is way behind WTA in general awareness. Michelle Wie, the top dog is less than half of Serena's changes of 507,125.
In a way, this is a reasonable measure of how far LPGA has come, and how much more it has to go.

So Yeon and In Gee are both attractive and charismatic; they also have identical golf resume up to their 22 birthday. Yet, In Gee caught on with social media faster than So Yeon.
Timing is everything, So Yeon is 4 years older; Instagram wasn't as much a factor in 2012 as it is in 2016. Also, In Gee was helped tremendously by winning 2 majors in 2 consecutive years.
The only question remained is whether a Korea born Korean golfer like In Gee, can break the glass ceiling and become a social media and fan darling. Can In Gee reach 200,000 followers if she wins 1-2 majors and 2-3 other tournaments in 2017,
Clearly, it will matter only if she continues to win.

In Gee added the most new followers recently when she tied for 2nd after the first round of HiteJinro. It slowed down the 2nd and 3rd rounds when she dropped to tenth.

It's happening; In Gee has started to pick up more non-Korean followers. When In Gee won Evian her pictures were all over golfchannel, GolfWrx and the LPGA website. LPGA media person Amy Rogers has a picture with her interviewing In Gee as her cover photo or whatever it's called. I don't think non LPGA fans are going to know In Gee like Wie, Creamer and Gulbis but every LPGA fan will be an In Gee fan in short order. For one reason, her pictures on articles get clicks. It snowballs after that.

The national identity is pervasive, especially in Asia. Sania Mirza, an otherwise journey Indian player of WTA, has 2.2 million followers; second only to Serena's 4.5 million and more than Sharapova's 2.1 million.
Ai Miyazato, benefited from a sizable Japan population, has 32.9K followers. Ai's followers are 95% Japanese.
Bo Mee and Ha Neul go one step further, by drawing followers from both Korea and Japan.

In Gee finally reaches 28K followers from 27K; it took her 11 days, an average of about 91 adds per day.
For the month, she went from 21K to 28K; 5,000 from 8 days wraparound Evian Championship and 2,000 from the other 22 days. By comparison, fellow Korean So Yeon added about 1,000 in the same period.
One can argue whether Evian is a fake major; but In Gee's follower pattern illustrates vividly the importance of LPGA majors and winning it.
