This four-rounder kicks off on Masters week with field of 120 on Jeju Island. I'm surprised that Hyo Joo Kim is not in the field, as Lotte is her big sponsor. Jae Eun Chung is in this one...I assume she'll shuttle back-and-forth between Korea and Japan like last year. I wonder if her chances of winning would improve if she focused on one tour.

I posted an article a couple of months ago about Hyo Joo. It said that she became really burned out last year trying to keep all her KLPGA commitments while playing full time on the LPGA, and this Olympic year, she wants to focus on the LPGA. Thus, she was hoping for understanding from her sponsor when she skipped their KLPGA events. Presumably they saw it her way... or perhaps she got penalized, but regardless, she is following through on her intention. EDIT: here is the thread

I forgot that Lotte hosts the Hawaii LPGA event next week, so HJ Kim can meet her corporate obligations there. *********** Callaway Golf Korea chartered a plane to Jeju Island, 37 players and their families on board.

SBS Golf is showing this one Noon to 5 PM local time each round...for anyone who can see it. The first half of the field has started and six players are tied for first at -1. Sharon is +4 thru three holes ...how she won last fall is beyond me.

If HJC's parent's were smart, they'd reach out to BJ and sign him up as an agent.....turn pro and get the Korean sponsors to offer invites at LPGA events and participate in Monday qualifiers. She'll silence any Yanks that might think Mericans are making a comeback on the LPGA tour.

Hye Jin Choi and Cecilia Cho are tied for the lead at 8 under.
Here are some of the other leaders. What's impressive is that Cho and Choi have distanced themselves from the rest of the field already (with some round 2 golf left to finish, of course).
1. Cecilia Cho, Hye Jin Choi (A) -8 3. Bo Kyung Kim -5 4. Seung Hyun Lee, Soo Yeon Jang -4 6. Yoon Ji Cho, Hee Mang Kim, Yuna Park, Song Yi Ahn, Char Young Kim, Hye Youn Kim -3
Notables: 12. Ran Hong, Soo Jin Yang, Jung Eun Lee 6 (R) -2 18. So Young Lee (R) -1 (she's the other big name youngster, born in 97 and now pro), Han Sol Ji 29. Gyeol Park, Shi Hyun Ahn, Jung Min Lee +1
Cecilia Cho was nowheresville until her win a couple of weeks ago, and now she's threatening to do it again. And 16-year-old HJ Choi is fast becoming the big name in Korean amateur golf.
Could be an interesting weekend!

Wow, this one is turning crazy.
Choi and Cho looked like they'd run away with it, but both are over par in round 4 and won't win.
Soo Jin Yang and Su Yeon Jang, playing together, were each 6 under for the day and tied for the lead when they reached the 18th hole, a par 5. Both missed the green. Yang hit a poor chip but still had a possible seven footer for birdie. Then Jang chipped her eagle in and moved to 13 under, eliminating Soo Jin from winning.
Heartbreaker for Soo Jin Yang! I've been waiting for her to put herself in position to win like this for a while, and she loses to a chip in eagle after shooting a final round 66...
Of course, Jang doesn't have this won yet, but I doubt anyone will catch her now!
EDIT: Rookie Da Yeon Lee, who was three back, just bogied and now is four back with two to play. I think Jang's got this one. Pretty amazing to shoot a final round 64, end with an eagle chip, and get (I think) her first career win.
