I have no intention of tracking every AJGA tournament this year, but this one is worth writing about. It is one of the few that is by invitation only, so they’ll have a strong field. Here are the past winners: Year Name Tournament Score 2015 Angel Yin Arcadia, Calif. ANNIKA Invitational Reunion Resort 70–68–66—204 2014 Bethany Wu Diamond Bar, Calif. ANNIKA Invitational Reunion Resort 68–68–71—207 2013 Bethany Wu Diamond Bar, Calif. ANNIKA Invitational Reunion Resort 68–71–67—206 2012 Alison Lee Valencia, Calif. ANNIKA Invitational Reunion Resort 71–71–71—213 2011 Céline Boutier Montrouge, France ANNIKA Invitational Reunion Resort 71–66–76—213 2010 Victoria Tanco Bradenton, Fla. ANNIKA Invitational Reunion Resort 73–66–72—211 2009 Simin Feng Orlando, Fla. ANNIKA Invitational Ginn Reunion Resort 72–75–73—220 Notice how ‘Ginn’ was removed from the venue’s name after 2009; Bivens & Ginn, perfect together. From 2012 AJGA archives: ANNIKA Invitational winners crowned Annika congratulates the top five girls (L-R): Simin Feng, Shannon Aubert, Sorenstam, Alison Lee, Ashlan Ramsey, Andrea Lee. This year’s field of 72 includes Hannah O’Sullivan, Muni He, Mariel Galdiano, Kristen Gillman, Sierra Brooks, and Andrea Lee. Needless to say, the Callaway and Annika S. golf businesses will be omnipresent. Golf is not cheap at this level. Each player pays $375 to accept the invitation. However, the event will reimburse a player’s travel expenses, up to $300 if travelling within the U.S. and up to $500 if travelling from a foreign country. It’ll be 54 holes of medal play from Saturday thru Monday; practice round is tomorrow. Tourney details: www.ajga.org/microsite/index.asp?tn=2016005#

Phil Nice...how do you find all this stuff?
I didn't know Simin Feng is that tall. Let's see if Hannah can win...she should be the fav.
Larry the Loop was on the bag of a Chinese gal in another tier 5 event in Fla.

I guess Haley Moore has fallen in the rankings. Hope she gets on track.

The H.S. intern working at lpga.com might pick up a pointer or two if they check out the AJGA's website...it's got a lot of info and history jammed into it in a well-organized manner. They also have a real-time scoreboard: www.ajga.org/scoring/leaderboard.asp?tn=2016005As of now, Muni is T-3 at -1 thru eleven holes and Hannah is T-3 at -1 thru twelve holes. I recall Andrea Lee being a top-notch amateur, but she is in the cellar at +11 thru twelve holes...I hope her commitment to Stanford U. was done with ink and paper.

Hannah had a disappointing result. I noticed that; in fact, she hasn't been playing well since winning 2015 US Women's Amateur.

A Cannuck finished second. It's becoming clear that Muni is more than cheesecake...she's the only "name" player I listed in my first post that made the top-10. She's in the video below...at 0:15 her black bag has a few Honma wood covers.

Muni sits at #25 in the WAGR....in my books she needs to be in the top 3 rankings for me to declare she has sustainable LPGA ability. We saw the likes of The Canadian Princess and Megan K...slowly and consistently move up...let's see how Muni does. BUT I'm not sure....but I'm guessing Muni might not have a lot of length. The likes of other recent mover and shaker's on the WAGR all have sufficient length...Ko, GIMME, Minjee, Brooke, Megan, etc. Length isn't everything...but it helps and if a pro doesn't have length...they have a world class short game to offset a lack of power.

It seems like the 2016 Mannika was a great success. Hopefully, Sorenstam wasn't shooting the girls up with HGH in the bathroom stalls ala Canseco & McGwire.
