Be safe all my fellow posters...or in my case, poser...but seriously, stay warm and safe and indoors and well stocked...it's probably not going to be that bad here in the NYC area..."just" 8 inches...but for others, it could be very bad.

The Panthers game might be inconvenienced....so much for all the east coast weather bragging up until Xmas. Although it's been rainy here...it was about 50*F yesterday and today and The Smiling Budda wi be hitting the links tomorrow in sun and cloud and 47*F.

This is literally the first snow of the season...I'm not counting a couple of recent dustings that amounted to nothing (but we've had a lot of rain). I played more golf in December than I expected...last time out it was only $20 to walk during the week at Colts Neck GC, but they had winter tees and greens. Probably time to log out for the evening and start assembling my ski apparel for tomorrow AM...which I use more for snow shoveling than skiing these days.

Phil So you mean matts for tees and temp greens?
I hate temp greens and won't play.

Yup....those are temp greens which I hate.....I also hate temp tee blocks too.....so I normally just tee off to the side of the tee blocks I'd normally play.

The San Clemente Muni won't be crowded today when I go out for the twilight rate. The cold weather drives people inside. When I tee off it will be 62 degrees.

Hey....Ryann O'toole is from San Clemete.....have you ever seen her slum it there? You should also try to play golf with Ryann's mom....hottest looking mom on tour...hands down....she'll be at the KIA....go chat her up....and Danielle Kang's mom is good for a beach bum like you...she would appreciate your 'fake' Korean jokes. I played today too.....it was a balmy 48*F with breeze off the Fraser river at McCleery. We teed-off at sunset.....1pm...used a 4 for 3 coupon...$14 p/p inc'd tax. I pushed everyone and we finished in approx 3.40 hrs.

I dug my car out twice yesterday...I have minimal clean up to do this AM. Did not lost electric. Can't believe hundreds of cars were stuck on the Pennsy Turnpike. This storm had plenty of notice; why were they out there? D.C. zoo: i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2016/images/01/24/panda.gif

Oh, someone else gets clobbered with snow for a change. All we got here in Central Massachusetts Saturday evening was around 4-5 inches, although it was closer to a foot or more along the south coast towards New Bedford. It still wasn't easy to drive through but I managed. I can't let my guard down yet this season as nearly all of the snow we got last winter came in a three week period beginning with the last weekend in January, and we're almost to that point on the calendar.
Somewhere else on the planet that saw severe winter weather was East Asia: scores of deaths were recorded on Taiwan when the temperature plummeted to 4C over the weekend. Parts of Guangdong province on the mainland got snow and sleet was recorded for the first time ever on Okinawa. It was of course brutally cold in Korea and Japan as well, and heavy snow closed the airport on Jeju for three days, stranding tens of thousands of people. It is open now and they've temporarily lifted night time restrictions to clear the backlog.

mr3putt definitely saddened to hear of all loss of life...I was especially moved to hear about the woman and her infant child who were in their car but the snow had blocked the exhaust. IceCat ah, yes...on a lighter note...which after all this we definitely need...I forgot you are up where folks are familiar with getting hit like this. When I saw Washington DC's inadequate response initially to just an inch or two, I knew they would be wrecked when the real stuff came down.
