So, the KLPGA season is over for another year, and that means it's time for -- more golf!

Yep, this week is the two-round Queen of Queens tournament. Not an official KLPGA event, it features 10 players who qualified for the field in a year-long competition.

The event will be shown on SBS Golf Channel starting on the 22nd at the JNJ Golf Resort (which is south of Kwangjoo in the southern part of the country). If I find another link for that channel, I'll let you know!

Here's the field:

(Top, L to R: Hyo Joo Kim, Yoon Kyung Heo, Jin Young Ko, Min Young Lee, Jung Min Lee.
Bottom, L to R: In Gee Chun, Min Sun Kim, Su Yeon Jang, Seung Hyun Lee, Chae Young Yoon)

(Kyu Jung Baek, Ha Na Jang and Sei Young Kim are not there; Baek is playing the CME this week!)

Round 1: Min Young Lee Leads

This event is a bit tricky to report, both because the KLPGA does not publish a leaderboard and because players earn points for how they finish which are added on to the points they earned during the year, and that determines who is leading.

In round 1, Min Young Lee shot a 63, which earned her 1000 points for first place. Added onto the 880 points she already had coming in, she now has 1880 points and the lead.

Hyo Joo Kim shot a 65 but only managed second. She had 1000 points coming in and now stands second with 1850 points.

Here is the complete leaderboard as far as I can figure it:

Round 2: Min Young Lee is the new Queen of Queens

Min Young Lee won the Queen of Queens, with Hyo Joo Kim finishing second.

It wasn't easy. Lee had three birdies and four bogies on the day, but despite her mediocre round, she was able to hold off her challengers.

It came down to the final hole, with Hyo Joo Kim making a 3-putt bogey to fail to catch Lee for the win. They ended up thus both tying with 73s. Had Kim beaten Lee, it sounds like she would have squeaked out the overall win.

Min Sun Kim shot a 66 for the best round of the day.
