Here is a video of final round highlights. Mind is on at 1:48 into the video...even her swing looks different...more powerful...than the other players in this tournament, even LPGA pro Pornanong Phatlum...but I will defer to anybody in the forum who knows a lot more about swing mechanics than I do. Also, at the 2:00 mark she gives her acceptance speech in English. Clearly, English is not her first language but I like that at 16-years old she is already giving short speeches without a translator. Mind is very clear that when she is old enough she wants to come play on the LPGA. If she turns out to be as good as people say she is, practicing her English now is a good move.

I can't wait to hear the LPGA commentators mangle all those Thai names this year. They'll soon be longing for another Kim or Park or Lee!

...posting this here in case anybody had any swing comments to assist me...
Thanks for commenting on the swing. I will be trying, over the next year or so, to get out more and play...or at least hit the driving range when I can...so I am trying to learn more about swing mechanics. There are two people's swings that I would like to try to emulate...either Annika Sorenstam or Inbee Park.
So here's what I saw but don't have the technical golf language to describe...so I will say it the best I can...when Mind gets to the top of her swing, just for a microsecond, there is...well, not a hitch...but it's almost like there's a movement she does...the best way I can describe it is she looks like she's saying to herself, "I'm really gonna swat this ball!"...and she seems faster through the downswing than the other players in this video (admittedly there are only a few)...but also faster than say, Inbee Park...or maybe it's not faster...maybe it's a change of speed relative to her take back that fools my eyes into thinking she's faster through the ball...as opposed to somebody like Inbee or the other players in this video who...to my eyes...seem more "even" or balanced through their swings...
...I don't know if I described that correctly...probably not...but like I said...I'm trying to quickly learn what players take a lifetime tinkering with...
...based on my desire to emulate Annika or Inbee...do you have a book to recommend before the weather gets warmer here in the NE...

1) So here's what I saw but don't have the technical golf language to describe...so I will say it the best I can...when Mind gets to the top of her swing, just for a microsecond, there is...well, not a hitch...but it's almost like there's a movement she does...the best way I can describe it is she looks like she's saying to herself, "I'm really gonna swat this ball!"...and she seems faster through the downswing than the other players in this video (admittedly there are only a few)...but also faster than say, Inbee Park...or maybe it's not faster...maybe it's a change of speed relative to her take back that fools my eyes into thinking she's faster through the ball...as opposed to somebody like Inbee or the other players in this video who...to my eyes...seem more "even" or balanced through their swings... 2) ....do you have a book to recommend before the weather gets warmer here in the NE... 1) Let's face it....there's no one method/swing that can or should be emulated by all. There are so many 'unorthodoxed' swings...Bubba, Lexi, Trevino...even Spieth with his chicken wing. All that matters is how square the club face is at impact with ball speed and hitting the ball in the sweet spot. Ya....Mind's swing is a bit 'unorthodox'. She has a really upright back swing and lifts up at the end of the back swing never even getting the club close to parallel...she also straightens her left leg in her back swing too. In a 'classic' swing...a player generally rotates around their spine against their waist to create width and torque in their back swing. Mind then dips down to get the club in 'the slot' into her down swing. 2) IMO...you should learn how to golf from an instructor and not a book, video or TV. If you can't afford lessons....try to find an acquaintance who is a really good golfer (single digit cap) to see if they can give you some tips. You need to understand how 'correct' swing mechanics feel from a live person....something you won't get from a book, video or TV. If you learn on your own...... you will likely be repeating bad habits over and over.

Definitely will be getting an instructor...also probably will record my swing...so maybe at some point I'll post a video of myself...be kind! When it comes to the history of the LPGA in the 2000s, I can hold my own...when it comes to actually playing golf...I'm a white belt...maybe yellow...I'm actually a surprisingly good putter when my friends take me out with them to play...but overall, probably white...
