No offense to Christina, but I have to root for So Yeon and Inbee because, first of all, they are two of my favorite golfers in the world, and secondly, they have played so well this year, and I want to see that rewarded with wins. Especially So Yeon, who contends all the time and almost never wins. The way Christina has played lately, even a top five would be a great result for her. The thing is, both Ryu and Park are due a great round, and I'm hoping to see at least one of them post it tomorrow! So Yeon will be in the final group, and if she can put some pressure on early, she has a shot. It's always possible that Christina will also have a more normal round than the ones she's been having, and So Yeon has to be ready for that. In any event, I just hope she plays great and let the chips fall where they may. Inbee has a lot at stake here. If she finishes second and Lewis stays out of the top ten (both plausible results), they will be EXACTLY TIED in the Player of the Year race going into the final event. How cool would that be? You'd know then - whoever finishes better wins POY. Have they ever had a #1 and #2 player in the world tied for POY with one event to play? (Of course, if Inbee wins it would be even better, but I hope she can at least knock some off of Lewis' lead. ) GO SISTERS!!! FIGHTING!!!

There might be a weird situation where Ryu, whom I generally prefer over Inbee, may have a one shot lead over Inbee, and I have to root for Ryu to bogey. An Inbee win puts her in perfect position to win the Player Of The Year award, so I have to think big picture.

When I don't have a horse in the race, I root for the player who is playing the best all week. That player won today.

Impressive. This was the roller coaster of emotions for Christina, who was dominating, then gave a bunch back, then saw Shanshan catch her, then stabilized, then took control again, then choked it away, only to finally calm herself down enough to win in the playoff. It is impressive when someone dominates a tournament, but I think it shows a lot more when a player has to come back from adversity. Christina showed a lot of that heart today, and I give her all the credit in the world.
So, next week. Stacy Vs Inbee for Player Of The Year. It's pretty much top finisher, correct? Or does Inbee need to win?

I thought it was going to be Malaysia redux where Shanshan catches, and passes the third round leader. I really thought that after Jenny sank that long chip for birdie on 15. Christina bogeyed that hole and it was tied up. C-Kim birdies 16 and 17 to re-take the lead and it looks like she wins it in regulation if she makes a five-foot par on 18. But Judy Rankin called it saying it was tricky.
To have Christina come back after that to win it after the second playoff hole made a great story. A lot of heart!

Congrats to Christina. I can honestly say I did not see this one coming from a mile away!
It wasn't a bad week for Inbee all in all. She didn't have the great round she needed on Sunday, but she didn't play that badly, either. And her third place now puts her just three points behind Lewis entering the final week (she's also about 300K behind her on the money list and .1 strokes behind her in Vare, but I'm guessing it will be harder to catch her in those categories, though not impossible I'd wager. What is the final event's winning purse worth?). "Inbee Park third place" was the biggest sports search term on the Korean internet site I checked this morning, so you can see the Korean fans are paying attention.
As for So Yeon, you can see from what Feng did that this was a win she could have had, but she just underperformed again when it counted. Here's a good illustration of why I get so frustrated:
Top tens and wins this season
Christina Kim: 1 win, 3 top tens Mirim Lee: 2 wins, four top tens Lexi Thompson: 2 wins, 8 top tens Mi Hyang Lee: 1 win, 4 top tens Jessica Korda: 2 wins, 6 top tens Anna Nordqvist: 2 wins, 8 top tens So Yeon Ryu: 1 win, 14 TOP TENS
What's more annoying is, this is the third season where she's had 10+ top tens. In 2012 she had 16 top tens, 1 win; last year she didn't even get a win.
Of course, it could be worse: Chella Choi has 10 top tens and no wins ever. But So Yeon ought to be winning at least 3 a year with the number of top tens she gets.
Here's hoping at some point she can get figure it out, because she is so much fun to watch! Sisters FIGHTING!!!

My connecting my post to others is lacking. Any way Happy Fan. Putting is one of the reasons So Yeon is not winning. She had one hundred thirty three putts in this tournament.
The majority of the players had one hundred twenty or less. She and Na Yeon are ranked no. 63 and 62 in putting. Watching other golfers hit it all over the place chipping it in, or getting up and down. While she is hitting greens and not making putts must be so frustrating to her. I am sure she is aware of it and will address it this offseason.

SYR had a 12 ft putt on 18 and left it short to the right with a stabby putt. SYR is not the only one with questionable putting. Azahara, Lexi, Lang, etc......some of my favs.....lack the touch too. InBee is the Sista that has the nerves and iciness to chase down a leader or hold the lead. Her 13th GIR is complemented with 3rd in putting.....brilliant.
