I got a feeling this one is gonna be another shootout! Doesn't Lorena usually play in the event? Maybe too busy being a mom?

I got a feeling this one is gonna be another shootout! Doesn't Lorena usually play in the event? Maybe too busy being a mom? It was earlier reported that Lorena will take part in the pro-am this week and will begin training with an eye towards a limited schedule in 2015, including of course her own tournament.
I know nothing of the venue this year other than that it is in the capital and thus at altitude. It was moved there from Guadalajara because of sponsorship and also because Lorena herself spends most of her time in Mexico City with her husband these days.Kevin

I just can not believe that I K Kim did not get invited to this tournament. She is not even the first alternate. She won this tournament in 2010, and donated all her purse to charity. Half of her winnings went to the Lorena Ochoa charity.
I can only imagine how I K feel, I know how I feel, disgusted.

Lorena and her charity have gone out of their way many times to show love to Inky. The LPGA must know something about Lorena's plans, they started the week by calling her a "Hall of Famer". Now it says "future hall of famer". The 10 year rule is a GOOD THING. Lorena SHOULD come back and play some more. Does she only need one more year ( 10 events ) on Tour to get in the Hall?

I gotta believe Inky didn't apply for an invite too. I'll message a guy who is at the event as a volunteer media guy and see what I can obtain.

The truth is that I K has not played often enough or well enough this year to make a field of just 36 players. She has skipped 13 tournaments this year that she could have played in. She is currently #49 on the money list. My guess is that she didn't apply for a sponsor exemption for Lorena's event. She qualifies next week for the CME event. Let's see if she shows up there.[/quote] Please explain Natalie Gulbis invite?

Tour Players LOVE Gulbis. She's been injured most of the year ( so she probably really wants to play ) and Nat Nat is probably still a draw for spectators. Win Win
But not as much as Lorena LOOOOOOVES Inky !!! I cannot accept this is a snub situation. Unfathomable !

Thanks "SayYouSeRi" Your explanation is the only one that's sound right to me.
Tonj5 Julie Inkster has not played that much, so you think she deserves to be invited.

IK is listed as the 4th alternate. Whether she actually is ready to play or is just listed there because of her money list position I cannot say...
But you're right, the first thing I thought of was that it was weird she was not in the field. Also, has this event always had so few participants? I thought it was more of a regular limited field event in previous years, ie, more like ~70 players.

Actually I think the first years may only have had about 28 players.

Supposedly, Natalie obtained an invite because she and Lorena will be participating in a future charity event.....Gulbis has been injured a lot this year....so with IMG behind her....they have helped her obtain as many invites as possible to assist her with sponsor contractual covenants on appearances. This is essentially Juli's last year on tour, so she got an invite.
Obviously, the other 3 invites were prioritized for 3 Mexican nationals.

www.golfchannel.com/news/randall-mell/ochoa-enjoying-retirement-not-seeking-return/This is a great article on Lorena. For those who have watched Lorena play....there are really only two words to describe her...."PURE CLASS"....Lorena is so polite with her fans....always ready with a smile or thank you. My fondest memory of Lorena occurred at the 2007 CWO in Edmonton. There is a 90* dog leg left par 5. The majority of pros would simply hit a hybrid/FW off the tee. Lorena pulled out her driver, cut the corner.....beaming a shot over 5 story high evergreens literally only 100 yards away....what made it more crazy was Lorena had a 7.5* Ping driver.....the only other pro I saw cut the corner was big hitting, Bam Bam.
