The second-to-last event of the KLPGA season is upon us: the ADT-CAPS. Defending champion is Min Sun Kim, and as usual, the champ is featured on the poster: Some bad news: In Gee is skipping the event to rest and let her shoulder get better. Hopefully she will play next week's event, as she is the defending champion. She will still have a chance to break a billion won for the season if she can defend her title there. Action starts Friday!

I just read an article that claimed that In Gee Chun has reversed her decision and "reluctantly" (quoted from the article) decided to play in this event after all. The article says that she spent two days in the hospital following the last event, and that her shoulder is sore, but she can manage. It sounds like she has gotten some pressure (presumably from the KLPGA or the sponsors) to play owing to the promises already made to sponsors, pro-am partners, etc, and she wants to fulfill the promises she made when she accepted the tournament spot several months ago.
The article goes on to say that due to the cold weather, there is some concern she could worsen her injury.
GADZOOKS! I sure hope I'm not understanding that right, or the article is wrong. Squeezing every last bit out of your star player when she isn't 100% is not a good move!

It's likely she won't play at 100%, but will stick it out.

OK, another day, another change in the field! In Gee played the pro-am today, and afterwards decided her shoulder was just too injured to continue. She has officially dropped out of this tournament, and my guess is she won't be playing next week, either, although she did not say that. She has returned to Seoul for treatment. The KLPGA was cool with this decision. The same article mentioned that Inbee will be in the field for Lorena's tournament, she has gotten the OK from her doctors that her finger will be fine by then. It also mentioned that Hyo Joo Kim has been struggling with injuries, which would explain her recent withdrawals, although I didn't get exactly what was wrong with her. This page has a video with In Gee explaining her decision (in Korean, alas)

This is pretty sad that either or both her sponsors and/or the KLPGA are strong arming Dumbo to play when she's obviously injured. And Dumbo's not even sponsored by The Dark Side.....look at MW playing all these events this year wrapped up like a mummy and walking like Frankenstein...MW is injury prone....I say she's gone by 2017 or 2018 once her main endorsements expires.
Have we really found out who would have fined Sky for deciding to play the LPGA Q school in 2013...her sponsors or the KLPGA?
The KLPGA is sore they are losing another star to the LPGA and others to the JLPGA......money talks boys....ante up.

SBS Golf will carry this one live one hour earlier than usual, 11 AM local time. Remember that the ROK and Japan don't do DST, so both those places are currently 14 hours ahead of the US east coast. Since they’re playing at the locale of Sharon’s sponsor, this gives her additional responsibilities: I thought it was strange that she didn’t play last week, but I have a theory. Last week’s golf course (DeBeach GC) is SW of Busan, just across the bay. This week’s golf course (Haeundae Beach CC) is north of downtown Busan. If they are direct competitors in this area, it might not look good for Sharon to be playing at DeBeach GC.

IGC will be lucky to get out of Korea while she can still walk. The KLPGA is in the rear view mirror now. Once a year for the next 10 years from now on.

Round 3: Ji Hyun Oh Claims First Career WinJi Hyun Oh joined the KLPGA as an 18-year-old last year. Nicknamed 'the Yuna Kim of Korean Golf' after the famed figure skating gold medalist, whom she somewhat resembles, the pressure was on Oh from the start to be a success like Kim. She has had a decent career until this week, but not come all that close to winning. All that changed today. Oh came into the final round in the final group, one shot behind three time 2015 winner Jin Young Ko. Most were probably expecting Ko to take this one, or at least make it very tough for Oh. But in fact, today turned out to be a romp for the teenager. Oh really took off with four straight birdies starting on the 7th hole. Ko, meanwhile, made bogey on 10 + 11, and that was all for her. She ended up shooting a 74 and finishing 4th. Min Song Ha launched a furious attempt to catch Oh on the back nine. Starting out well behind her, she made five straight birdies and six total on the back nine to move to 8 under. It would only be good enough for second, though. By this point, Oh had a four shot lead, and cruised to a six shot margin by shooting a 65. What a way to get your first win! Jung Min Lee, meanwhile, had a dismal week. She only finished 53rd, which means she gained no ground on In Gee Chun in the Player of the Year race. She still has a chance to nab it next week, though. But the focus is rightly on Ji Hyun Oh. She may not yet be Yuna Kim, but even that great star had to win her first event sometime. Congrats to Ms. Oh! Scores: 1. Ji Hyun Oh 65 -14 2. Min Song Ha 64, Bo Kyung Kim 66 -8 4. Shin Ae Ahn 70, Hye Jung Choi 2 69, Jin Young Ko 74 -6 Notables: 9. Jung Eun Lee 5 73 -4 12. Sung Hyun Park 70, Char Young Kim 69 -3 15. Soo Jin Yang 69, Ji Young Park (R) 71 -2 19. Congrat to Ji Hyun Oh for the win. I was really hoping that Jin Young Ko would win. I only got to watch very little because my USC Trojans were playing football .
If Jung Min Lee win Player Of The Year. There's something wrong with the KLPGA process for how they determine the winner. In Gee's performance for the year should make her the runaway winner.

If Jung Min Lee win Player Of The Year. There's something wrong with the KLPGA process for how they determine the winner. In Gee's performance for the year should make her the runaway winner. You are absolutely 100% correct about that. I was amazed when I realized that In Gee not only has not locked this up, but Lee might not even need to win next week to get the title. They both have the same number of top tens, but Lee has missed four cuts and Chun none, and Chun's worst finish all year in Korea was a 26th. But nothing counts in this award outside of the top tens, and they seem to rate top fives that aren't wins way too highly, so Lee is still in it. Oh, and Lee has three wins, no Majors, Chun five wins, two majors. By any logical measure, In Gee's the real POY no matter how these points shake out...
