When you're hot, you're hot. Mi Jung Hur is smoking right now. Another great round to build on what she did last week. 8-under, bogey-free...of course, there is this pretty good player tied for the lead with Mi Jung...but we'll wait and see how things turn out the next two days before worrying about her. Hopefully, Hur won't look at the leaderboard too much until the final round. If she just keeps things rolling, she should be in it on Sunday.

Good round on Friday to put MJ into position for the weekend. I had forgotten she had finished third here in 2012. She likes this course and she's playing great. Keep up the good work, MJ! (and how cool was she trying out the cameraman's job for a second? It's awesome to see her having fun in the heat of battle!) Fighting!!!

This should be interesting tomorrow....the steadiness and putting from Hur vs. the ball smashing of Reto...she's 6th on tour distance. It's crazy how Reto's loop could survive financially with Reto last year on the Symetra and the LPGA this year.

I wasn't able to watch the final round interview. If someone gets their hands on it, could you post it?

Congratulation to M J for closing out the win in fashion. She never wavered down the stretch, like many Koreans has done this year. Early in the year she would show up on the Leader Board, in the first and second round, but fade in later rounds. Love her swing, not a lot of moving parts to it.

more pics on my blog: Mi Jung Hur Wins 2014 Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic | Fairways and ForehandsMi Jung HurThat was clutch. Stacy Lewis right on Mi Jung Hur's heels by the 11th hole, just 1 shot back. Then between 11 and 16 MJ was Jordanesque, leaving the field behind as she stepped on the gas. It was fun to watch. Of course, Stacy has to be sick of 2nd place finishes. I wonder what the LPGA record is for 2nd place finishes. Anyway, I was also very happy to see Moriya Jutanugarn notch a top 5.

I just had to comment on golfers saying that their putts didn't fall. They didn't fall because they did not putt them in the hole. They act like some invisible force was working against them. For once just say that I missed the putts.

Congrats MJ! After watching so many nailbiters where a top Sister struggled to hang onto a win, how satisfying it was to see one just grab the bull by the horns and get better and better the more the pressure was on. Man, some of those iron shots were all-world, and her putting is smooth as butter. Here's hoping this is the start of something big for this personable and talented player! In some ways, this was one of the few tournament wins that took 12 rounds to accomplish. You could see her getting more confident, dealing with the pressure better and better, as the Portland and Evian tournaments progressed. Each time just a little closer, but not quite there yet. It all came together in her AWESOME final round today. When you have a former champion at this event, a #1 player, who is known for going low in final rounds... When this player is hot on one's heels, it would be easy to fold. All the credit in the world for the way MJ handled it. She says she was inspired by So Yeon Ryu's victory speech in Canada, which reminded her how important it is to play one shot at a time. Even So Yeon could learn a thing or two about how to handle pressure by watching how MJ did this week, and that's a big compliment to Ms. Hur! Congrats again to Mi Jung Hur. Man, what a great weekend for the Koreans! Way to go to Kyu Jung, Jiyai AND MJ!

Let me also add that I found MJ's strong emotional reaction to her win very touching. I felt it more even than when So Yeon finally got her win in Canada, probably because it felt inevitable that Ryu would get a win sooner or later, whereas MJ seemed like a star whose chance had passed. Or perhaps it was because her dad was there to share it, but it all just combined for a genuinely moving and hearfelt reaction from MJ. So glad she was able to get the job done!

Don't know of you remember but it reminded me of when Young Kim (I miss the floppy hat!) won the Corning Classic back in 2007 and the emotions just spilled out. Unfortunately, she didn't win again on the LPGA but something tells me Mi Jung is sticking around long term.

This might be the best story of the year. A real champion for sure.
