Rolex Moves. In-Gee moved two spots, to eight in Rolex and forth in Olympic ranking.
Sung Hyun Park moved up nine spots to 54 in Rolex Ranking.

Interesting grouping yesterday: Minjee Lee, Lydia Ko, and Michelle Wie. They are all Korean ethnicity but different countries. I wonder what language do they talk to each other when they are on a course.

Good opening salvo by the Sisters in Malaysia. Alison Lee seems to want to make a statement following the Solheim Cup debacle. Great 66 for her. Right behind her and Xi Yu Lin is Chella Choi at 5 under. But the name I'm most interested in on the leaderboard is Ha Na Jang at 4 under. Ha Na is the only one of the top Korean rookies who hasn't claimed a win yet in her career. She has had two KLPGA wins and a runner up this year, though, so she's got the game and the form. It will be interesting to see if she can pull off a win this week. A nice group at 3 under, too: Q Baek, IK Kim, So Yeon Ryu and Queen Bee Park. I'd be thrilled to see any one of those four take this one. Q wants to make sure her form is solid going into her title defense next week. Go Sisters!!!

Although I have read that Michelle also speaks (some?) Korean.

Do y'all think player of the year in Women's golf is up for grabs or does Inbee have it locked up with 2 of the big 5 majors? I think you could make a case for In gee Chun, Lydia Ko or Inbee Park.

Unlike the PGA, the LPGA "Player of the Year" is determined by a point system. Not voted for like the PGA.

So how to quantify In Gee Chun's year going by LPGA POY points? I'm curious how they stack up in Rolex Ranking points since it should give appropriate weight to winning on other tours. Unfortunately I can't find that data for just 2015, only the change in total points from Dec 29 to Oct 5th. Inbee went from 584 to 694. In Gee went from 172 to 329. Lydia went from 421 to 619. I'm out of ideas after that.

The LPGA Player Of The Year, yes, but the Golf Writers Association has their own award and that is a global award. I've never heard of them having a winner that wasn't the LPGA Player Of The Year, but they could, in theory, give it to In Gee.

How much weight do people ascribe to K and J LPGA major wins? Is the strength of field relative to the LPGA events pretty easy to derive from world ranking points or is there a bias in world ranking points to LPGA events that makes it difficult to compare? Anyway, really just wondering what people think about Chun, vs Ko vs Inbee over who would be their player of the year.

Anyway, really just wondering what people think about Chun, vs Ko vs Inbee over who would be their player of the year. In my eyes....InBee ( 2 majors) is player of the year, unless Bam Bam or Ko win the rest of the events on the LPGA tour. In my books...the JLPGA & KLPGA majors are meaningless...heck...the Symetra tour could designate majors.....it's still ridiculous that the LPGA has 5 majors.

The JLPGA and KLPGA Majors are not meaningless to Rolex World Rankings.

Poor Jessica Korda......surrounded by 16 Asians at the top of the leader board.....they are killing the LPGA tour.

In Gee could win the Hana Bank and make things interesting. If you're asking who I, personally, would vote for if I was a golf writer, I think it's far harder to win on the LPGA Tour than it is to win on the Asian tours, so my vote would still be for Inbee. But, like I said, In Gee winning the Hana Bank or the CME Globe Championship (if she plays) would change my mind. Poor Jessica Korda......surrounded by 16 Asians at the top of the leader board.....they are killing the LPGA tour. Surrounded by 16 Asians? Sounds like a dream date.
