Same old "Rocket" five birdies, a double and triple bogie. Luv The Rocket.,..it's so frustrating. We need HYP to be a top 5 pros so we obtain maximum Rocket coverage. Are you the gent from Alberta who use to have the same Peanut avatar?

Keeping my fingers crossed they will be able to finish this tournament. All this rain not promoting Hainan Island in its best light.
The Americans are doing really well so far with the highlight being Danielle Kang winning a car after acing 17 in the first round. She has a shot to win this as well which may be a first.
Let's give Chella Choi the Iron Woman crown. She not only always plays but always plays well.

Looks like this golf course is going to be UNDER Blue Bay any minute now...play has been suspended. Danielle Kang had a solid -3 (-11 overall) on the front nine, but still trails leader LA Pace by three shots. Kang dunked her ball on #10 before play was stopped, so I doubt she'll get her first win today. That's too bad, as I have found her to be a charming player to follow in person.

Congratulations to Lee Anne Pace for her first "LPGA" win. She seems to enjoy herself out there. Another good tournament for Chella Choi. She is getting closer and closer, to that first win. Good last round for Jenny Shin, five under.
Danielle had one of her better tournaments.
I remember when Danielle won her first of back to back U S Women Amateur tournaments. She beat Jessica Korda for the championship. It was a great battle between the two of them.
So far Jessica is having the better LPGA career.

I'm glad they decided to finish the round on Monday. Another opportunity to watch ladies' golf during primetime. At 33 years, 8 months, Lee-Anne Pace has to be one of the oldest first-time winners on the tour.
The broadcasters said Chella Choi will be using a new caddie in Japan. Her old man is just worn out.

Congrats to Lee Anne.....also coming off a LET win in her home country in SA last week. For the avid women golf fans, we've heard of Lee Anne....but she was always under the radar....I was surprised she was so highly ranked on the Rolex rankings. Yes...I remember watching the US Am with Korda & Kang in 2010....I think Korda was leading and then faltered...I was rooting for Korda because she was more well known. It was hot playing in the Charlotte, NC Many of the men and women USGA Am champs in the last 15 years have not turned into pro 'stars'....obviously there are exceptions.

I think Lori Kane and Leta Lindley (one of my all time fav's and 1st saw her in 1995 at the Safeco in Seattle...she use to be Annika's roommate at U of Az) were pretty old when they won too. I spoke with Mark Wallington in Portland last year. He was offered an attractive package from BJ at the start of 2013 but couldn't loop for MW because he had to deal with some personal matters.....he used to be a pro rugby player. He looped for Danielle Kang last year and was on Charley Hull's bag for the Solheim because Hull's loop wasn't experienced enough. Mark also did the 3 week trial for Ko earler this year...obviously didn't pass Tina's litmus test....lol. I saw Mark on TV this week when there was a rain delay but couldn't figure out his bag. I think it would be good for Chella to have a change in loop...maybe it will be the difference for her to enter the winner's circle. It's too bad...all the rain this week....Blue Bay looks gorgeous with a newish Westin resort/hotel.....only about $200 US/per night for a room....pretty cheap for a beach side Westin. I was really surprised the Sime Darby had no weather delays this week...but they did move up the tee times.

Mr3putt wrote that many USGA Amateur Champs, men and Women doesn't become stars.
Many non winners of amateur tournaments don't become stars either.
There are just so many really great golfers out there.
There are a lot of LPGA/ PGA tour winners, that won amateur tournaments.
Note: Julie Inkster Tiger Woods

Gotta side with 3Putt on this one. In the past, the Amateur championship were a fast ticket to super stardom in golf, but since Matt Kuchar, you really haven't seen a superstar rise up from the Amateur championship in the men's game (Ryan Moore has been good but hasn't really hit his expectations, and we're waiting on Uilhein, but Danny Lee, Kelly Kraft etc. have been busts), and in the women's game you had Lydia Ko win it in 2012, but you've also had the likes of Blumenhurst and Nirapathpongporn burn out in their 20's. Admittedly, part of the reason is the fact that the Amateur Championships aren't really a "must win" anymore. They in the early part of last century they were literally a major, and they were still considered one of the premier golf championships in the 90's. Now, there is an amateur championship on every continent, the PubLinx in this country and the NCAA Championships. Add that to the fact that players are turning professional at a younger age and experiencing success in their teens on a professional level (perhaps not something we see in this country, but certainly in Asia), and suddenly these tournaments aren't necessarily the jump start to a fantastic career like they used to be.

I'm still kind of surprised and disappointed Minjee didn't plat the USGA Women's AM.
When was the last time, male or female, #1 ranked Am, didn't play the USGA Am?
