This one runs Friday thru Sunday and SBS Golf won't carry any of it...but I'll post an update if that changes. Bo Mee Lee and Teresa Lu are skipping this one and should be well rested for the following week's Japan Women's Open.

I hope it's like the old days for Ai Miyazato...WINNING! She went to high school in nearby Sendai, which got clobbered by the 2011 tsunami. She'll grouped with Mike Sakai and Erina Hara. The current field has 104 names.

I am hoping Ai get a win also. I really don't know if she qualifies for the Asian swing. I believe that she is somewhere in the low seventies,on LPGA money list. She has had some spotty success, but to many missed cuts. I am really hoping that she turn it around.

The LPGA's Ayako Uehara during Thursday practice. The accompanying article (with the usual alphabet soup translation) mentions the Asian swing, but it's hard to see how she'll get in at #82 on the money list...she might stick with the JLPGA the rest of the year. *********** Round One has started...Jae Eun Chung should have gone home for Chuseok...+4 after five holes. Da Ye Na...that reminds me, I should check ONOFF's website to see if they have any new toys. Na Ri Lee and Shinobu Moromizato (who is a TM-Adidas lifer...I took her picture at the 2006 Shop-Rite)

At this year's CP CWO...two old ladies carrying knapsacks. Uehara walks up and zips up one of the lady's bag....they turn around and say thank you. They sat down on a bench and said how nice someone would do such a kind gesture. I told them I wasn't surprised...they asked why. I said that was Uehara, a Japanese LPGA pro....they didn't believe me...they thought the gal was a young spectator. I said...didn't you notice she was decked out like a golfer with all kinds of corporate logos on her clothes. I said to them.....Japanese people are some of the most considerate. They mentioned they were attending the next day...I showed them Uehara's name on my tee sheet and they said they go watch her tee off the next day to thank her.

I assume their respective ailments (elbow, neck, neck, shoulder) will heal quickly for next week's JWO. Ai...oh my...77 Ayako Uehara (76) It only says ERIKA on the bag, which is sufficient...shot 73. Sun Ju Ahn flunked out and Erina Hara shot 72. Ayaka Matsumori (72) ... I don't like this version of the TM Gloire cap because the gold lion's head disappears in a white background. *********** On a side note, in old movies and TV shows you've probably seen or heard more than one joke about Japanese enthusiasm for taking photographs. But, some jokes have a kernel of truth in them...for instance, somebody was ready on the trigger for Ayaka Matsumori a few months ago : They really like Ayaka over there...

I just don't understand why Ai is having so much trouble scoring. She is not long off the tee, but she has always been adequate. Since she has not been on TV, I don't know if she has changed her swing. Someone wrote that she is having putting problems, but that can't be the only reason.
I remember her training with Pia Nilsen and Lin Marriot,(Vision 54) here at the Legacy Golf Course. She let me watch one of her sessions. Watching her swing, I thought that she would be relevant until she retires. Still hopeful, because she is such a nice person.
Anyway since the Asian Swing is top eighty on the money list, she qualifies.

The Final Round has begun...were the early starters really sent out into this pea soup? Rumi Yoshiba They have 17 threesomes going off on split tees, so they could easily afford a fog delay...maybe they're worried about rain later. Ai Suzuki, Erika Kikuchi, and Miki Sakai

Those laser beam eyes of Ayaka Matsumori...reminds me a little of Ai Miyazato in that regard. I have just learned that this was Erika Kikuchi's hometown tourney...but she's probably several hometowns behind Stacy Lewis.

more pics and video on my blog: Junko Omote Wins 2015 Miyagi TV Cup Dunlop Women’s Open (JLPGA)Junko OmoteI admit that I very nearly didn’t cover this event. With a few big names missing and the Japan Women’s Open, the third Major of the JLPGA season, coming up next week, my gaze was already fixed to the future. However, I’m glad I didn’t skip the the 2015 Miyagi TV Cup Dunlop Women’s Open. It’s great to see a player like Junko Omote come through with a sensational three days of play that saw her drop in 13 birdies against only 2 bogeys to take the title at 11-under, 3 shots clear of Shiho Oyama. It’s Junko’s first of win of the season and her first win since 2013’s Yonex Ladies Golf Tournament. Her two other titles were won back in 2005, when she finished 6th on the JLPGA money list. It has not been as good for her since then. She struggled for a handful of years after 2005. The last three seasons have been an improvement. In fact, her scoring average in 2013 and 2014 was better than her average was in 2005. The problem is that the competition has also improved from rising players in Japan and those who have come to the JLPGA from South Korea, like Bo-Mee Lee and Sun-Ju Ahn. So while Junko’s play is in line with what it was statistically in 2005, it’s not enough for the top 10 or 15 these days. But nonetheless, that doesn’t matter today. What matters now is she played very well this weekend, besting the field at the Rifu Golf Club. If she’s going have a time to start playing hot, this is a good time with the Japan Women’s Open up next. 1 JUNKO OMOTE (-11) with Maiko Wakabayashi, Rikako Morita, Kaori Aoyama, Hiroki Omote and Mihoko Iseri with Hiroki Omote 2 SHIHO OYAMA (-8) 3 LALA ANAI (-7) T4 MAYU HATTORI (-5) T4 YEO-JIN KANG (-5) A FEW NOTABLES: T6 MINAMI KATSU, low amateur (-4) T14 MOMOKO UEDA (-2)

The KLPGA could learn from the JLPGA......KLPGA trophies look like they were made at Joe's trophy shop. The Hana also needs to find a new trophy too....vs. the one they picked up at a grade 8 woodworking class.

I think the wooden spoon trophy is symbolic of Korean history from hundreds of years ago...exactly how, I don't know.
******
An article on winner Junko Omote says she used TaylorMade's Lethal golf ball, which is surprising. Although the Lethal is a 5-layer ball, one assumes a TMAG pro would use a T/M Tour Preferred ball instead. The Lethal was released three years ago, but is no longer being produced...per the mishmash translations I'm reading. It's not clear what she plans to do when the supply runs out. Of course, TMAG is excited about Junko winning with their Gloire F clubs...aside from being popular gear on the JLGPA, they're also popular on Japan's Senior Men's Tour.
