The enemy golf association shows up this week ... they picked up a couple of ams this week, Soomin Oh and Hyojin Yang. They also have 8 sponsor invites ... regardless of flags, they're all Koreans. That list includes a mystery player named Jihyo Jung ... I think this is the person:
She turned 18 last week and it appears that she joined the KLPGA this month, although she got into at least four events on the big tour this year. I guess the KLPGA let her play here, especially since it's hard to punish someone with no money.
MHL will play, of course ... she needs to shore up her top-60 CME position with one of these Asian welfare tournaments ... love the bookend 67s last week, but you can't have an 80 in-between ... currently holding onto the ledge at #56.

Ji Hyo Jung played at a recent KLPGA event, although I can't recall which one.

What are the crowds going to be like at an LPGA event in Korea compared to KLPGA events?

I went to the KLPGA Tour event last year during the BMW event. I would say the KLPGA Final round event attendance dropped by a lot. Like, many or all of the casual picnic fans were at the BMW event while the diehards followed their players at the KLPGA Tour event.

MHL gets Dryburrah and Soomin Oh (a) at 8:32 AM on Thursday. Someone smart put Chairwoman Mao in the same threesome with Ginny and Ruffels.

My field rating for this event is a pretty solid 62%, down from 67% last year. My breakdown is 63% from the LPGA Priority List and 62% from the Rolex Rankings. Eight of the top ten players in the world will be teeing it up, and 13 of the top twenty. Top ten players in the field this week: Lilia Vu (2) Lydia Ko (3) Ruoning Yin (4) Ayaka Furue (6) Amy Yang (7) Hannah Green (8) Haeran Ryu (9) Celine Boutier (10) Top ten players skipping the event this week: Nelly Korda (1) withdrew because of neck injury. Jin Young Ko (5)
Other Stuff: Ruoning Yin's victory this past weekend was the second for China this year (both won by Yin). Jeeno Thitikul is a top ten machine! Jeeno led the LPGA in top ten finishes in 2022 (16) and 2023 (13). Her top ten finish this past weekend was her 9th of the year (just one off the lead), in spite of missing the first two months of this season. Mao Saigo's second place finish at the Buick LPGA Shanghai puts her in the drivers seat to win the Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year award. She has accumulated 829 points. Jin Hee Im is in second place with 707.
There was very little movement in the Rolex Ranking by LPGA players this week: Ruoning Yin held at No.4 this week in spite of her win, but did solidify that position. Sei Young Kim Leaps up from 47 to 38. Yealimi Noh enters the top 100 this week (and becomes part of my field rating) jumping up from 111 to 94. Gemma Dryburgh drops out of the top 100.
In the Race to the CME Globe, where it is imperative to finish in the top 100 to secure fulltime playing privilrges for next season: Weiwei Zhang sneaks into the top 100, crawling up from 102 to 98. Yu Liu improves her chances by rising up from 115 to 104. Haeji Kang drops out of the top 100 this week.

Too bad about Nelly having to drop out. Still, the other 17 tour winners from this season are in the field. And it's great to see Jiyai participate.

Since the 'improved' LPGA website gives the tee times in local time, but gives the current time in EDT (for me, do the rest of you get your time zone?) ... ... it is helpful to point out that local time this week is Korea Standard Time, which is GMT or UTC+9, or 13 hours ahead of EDT.

Yes to all ... fortunately, ROK and Japan are in the same time zone which makes it easy for international fans not to screw up the alarm clock.

A Google-mushed article reports this:
On the 16th, female professional golfer Hinako Shibuno (25, Suntory) announced on her manager's SNS that she would be absent from the BMW Ladies Championship of the US women's tour, which began in Korea that day. "I'm in Korea this week, but my physical condition has not improved for a while, and after consulting with my medical team, I have decided to miss this week's BMW Championship. I was unsure about this decision until the very end, but I am not in a good enough condition to perform at my full potential, so I have decided to take a rest," she wrote of her feelings.
Last week, she placed 59th in the Buick LPGA held in China. She is also expected to miss next week's Maybank Championship (starting on the 24th) in Malaysia. "I will now focus on my treatment so that the fans who are looking forward to it can see me competing in the TOTO Japan Classic in Japan," she said, aiming to return to the Japan-US co-hosted TOTO Japan Classic to be held on the 31st at Seta GC in Shiga.
SC Cheng came off the bench to be the 78th player and Jiwon Jeon is the new first alternate.
