With SBS Golf no longer broadcasting on YouTube in the UK it was nice to be able to watch a KLPGA event made worthwhile by Ma Da Som's stellar play, congratulations on your victory! I totally agree with earlier comments on preferred lies and 'goat tracks',I think that with the condition of the course preferred lies were essential,I'm not sure I've ever seen a course in such poor condition being played by KLPGA (LET is another matter!).

Every once in a while someone just has one of those rounds where absolutely everything goes her way. That was the way it was for Ma today. Hit it close and make birdie. Hit far away and still make birdie. For good measure, hole one out. This event was done and dusted by the time she moved to four shots up on the 10th hole. Congrats to her, she certainly blitzed the field with I believe the best round of the year -- a 61! That she only had two top tens before this in 2024 shows you what a freakish outlier this was for her, but you have to hand it to her: she took advantage of being in the lead at the start of the day. Alas, if you aren't a Da Som Ma fanboy, it wasn't all that fun to watch. This event had the makings of a great battle between many of the top players on tour, and that never happened. But some did well anyways: Lydia with 67, and PK Konkraphan, of all people, rocketing up the leaderboard to get third. I'll give Ina credit. She was being destroyed in her pairing by Ma, her short game and irons were not that good by her standard, but she stubbornly hung onto 9 under until the final hole, when she finally hit a great iron and made birdie to claim solo 2nd. That despite hitting it into the water on one of the par fives. Not what she wanted at the start of the day, but even if she had been six shots better, the result would have been the same. Congrats again to Da Som 'Awesome' Ma on her dominating win. Hwaiting!

Congrats also to Hyun Kyung Park and Ina Yoon -- thanks to their finishes here, they became the second and third players to break a billion won in the season. This is the first time in KLPGA history where three players have broken the billion won mark; Ji Young Park already did it earlier.

We'll give her the credit and acknowledge that she's lucky! Ina is 9 shots behind the winner and only 8 shots ahead of T24. By the way, she probably will jump to the highest ranked Rolex KLPGA player; a place she can hold on until she becomes the highest ranked Korean player in the near future.

klpga.co.kr/web/main/indexHana Financial Final Round Highlights First Congratulations to Ma Da Som for a really great round of golf I thought it was more exciting than when the Leaders does nothing, and someone score minus two and still the win. Yet nobody gave her credit for a great round of golf, just that she was lucky. By the way I was not talking about this golf course preferred lies I meant the time they take placing their balls. May I remind everybody that this small country isn't as rich as the USA and Japan so they may have a course like this. The goat track comment is very offensive and a discredit to the people that do the best they can with the resources that they have.

That there weren't 23 other players shooting 61s? She played at more or less the same level as everyone else not named Ma and did what she needed to do to collect a second place despite not having her best stuff. If Ma had not been in the field, it would have been a tight battle for this win.

Ah, I see, you think I'm dismissing what she did. To be fair, I called her Awesome and congratulated her on her domination. But I never said she was lucky (OK, the holeout was lucky, as holeouts always are). Rather, I pointed out that no one saw this coming, probably including her, because it was so far above her statistical averages for the year. She shot four shots better on Sunday than anyone else the rest of the week. And she was not having a particularly good year to date. So somehow she found her perfect form at exactly the right time, which, let's face it, rarely happens to anyone (you could argue Jeongmin Moon had a similar but smaller statistical anomaly last week). As a result, everyone else was playing for second place. No one could be expected to match, let alone top, a 61. Since the first three days were a tight battle between some of the top players on tour, I was a little let down that the final round turned into a cruise for one player. But when someone is so dialed in that she's making consecutive 30 footers for birdie, no one is going to beat that.

Baby Ronni's paycheck converts to a big $7,918 USD ... and she is in the next two JLPGA events ... I think it's safe to say that her childhood is over.

Ina moved up 8 spots to 35th in the world rankings, her career best spot. She is now the second top KLPGAer behind Yewon, who is 34th, and ahead of Ji Young Park, who is 38th. Hyun Kyung Park is 43rd.
Da Som Ma moved up 45 spots to 102nd.
