The LPGA hits the poverty parkway this week ... down to 15 humans in today's qualifier ... I've seen two in person, Riley Rennell and Kennedy Swann. One of the amateur invites is Alison Takamiya ... I had to look up this household name ... just finished her 4th season at George Fox U. (in Oregon) ... I couldn't find her 2023-24 stats, but she finished first in six Division III tournaments ... had an "adjusted" scoring average of 72.19 in 2022-23.

Don't know about George Fox's reputation in women's golf, but they have had some solid D3 women's teams in basketball and maybe volleyball in recent years.

No rest for LC. She will tee it up again and be given featured group action I assume with ... Uh... CW and Kupcho? 🤷♂️

My field rating for this event is an embarrassingly low 23.5%, way down from 69.5% last year. I think that this is the lowest field rating in all the years that I have been doing this. My breakdown is 28% from the LPGA Priority List and just 19% from the Rolex Rankings. Not a single player in the Rolex Rankings top 25 will be teeing it up here. The reason for that is those highly ranked players will be competing in the Olympics next week. The Monday local qualifiers are: Kennedy Swan (USA) -3 Riley Rennell (USA) -3
Other Stuff: Lauren Coughlin's win at the CPKC Women's Open was the first LPGA victory of her career, and she was the third first time winner this year (Bailey Tardy and Linnea Strom were the others.) There were thirteen first time winners last year. Lauren Coughlin's victory was the 10th victory for a USA player this year, equaling their entire total of last year. No other country has more than three this year. Haeran Ryu's third place finish was her eighth top ten finish this year. Only Ayaka Furue (nine) has more. Brooke Henderson picked up her seventh top ten of the year. Mao Saigo's second place finish has put her on top of the Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year standings. She now has accumulated 513 points. Jin Hee Im (418) and Gabriela Ruffles (417) are next in line.
There were some moves in the Rolex Rankings by LPGA players worth reporting: Lauren Coughlin made the most important move, powering her way up from 38 to 27. Jennifer Kupcho rises from 49 to 45. Mao Saigo climbs from 52 to 41. Jenny Shin Springs up from 59 to 48. Outside the top 100: Nanna Koerstz Madsen advances from 111 to 102 Nataliya Guseva leaps from 162 to 123. Yealimi Noh surges from 147 to 128.
In the all important race to the CME Globe, where finishing in the top 100 is imperative for playing time next year: Nataliya Guseva has improved her chances significantly by bouncing up from 80 to 62. Wei Wei Zhang sneaks into the top 100 moving from 102 to 100. Alena Sharp greatly improved her chances by powering up from 136 to 110, and Minji Kang did the same by rising from 133 to 114.

Not sure why the LPGA put on this event at this time when they knew it was going to clash with the Olympics

I like it - gives the lower ranked players a chance to compete. I think it's time for another Cinderella first time winner at this event - Papp, Amy Yin, Soo Bin are my picks.

Lewis) Right now the team is Nelly, Vu, LC, Ewing, Corpuz, Khang, Andrea on points - Alison + Rose via Rolex - 3 capt picks - Kupcho is locked in , probably AP #2, Pano and id be surprised if Lexi isn't the sentimental pick, but she is doing alright in CME this year. Angel Yin would be good too but she is oft injured. We need a miracle!

Ugh, after two trunk slams MHL said, "who needs this s***?" It's back to the drawing board until Scotland, I assume.
Expect a good week from Eugenia (w/ Chairwoman Mao) ... Dr. Noh stuck with Yani and Stanford ... Yuri gets a glimpse of her distant future playing with Nat Nat ... so many washout trios ... The EMP with Guce and Huffer ... The Rocket with Annie and Waen ... Muni/J. Song/Stephenson, there's a breakout coming from here, right?

Who stuck Yealim with the old timers? She is used to playing with Alena to success, it may be a good omen.
Father time may have caught up to Eun Hee Ji (145 in CME) re signaled playing with Gina and Schubie near the bottom of the totem pole.
Good news is AP doesn't have to wake up at 430am on Thursday + looks like Capt. Lewis should get a lot of TV time playing with the 2 most recent champs in CW and Andrea.

I am ashoked that Aditi is in the field. She must be a glutton for punishment.
