This one runs July 15-20 at El Caballaro CC in Tarzana, CA ... let's hope The Old Goofball can get out there for a day or two ... and he won't need to sleep in his Ford Fusion to do it.
They have 37 exempt players in the field, including Borovilos, Clemente, Sarah Hammett, Jasmine Koo, RM Malixi, Nikki Oh and * Talley. I'm guessing that Yana Wilson and Mia Hammond were not interested in playing this one.
Qualifying was completed on June 24 ... one name popped out at me ... Kaila Elsayegh, a Pacific Palisades resident, so maybe she has local knowledge at ECCC ... tried to qualify at Shoprite/Acer and bombed out.

They started an 8-for-3 playoff on Tuesday, but suspended it due to darkness (three players eliminated, now 5-for-3 for Wednesday).

Kinsley Ni (age 16) of China was low medalist at -11 ... the USGA article says she has lived the last three years in "the Inland Empire of Greater Los Angeles" ... never heard the term Inland Empire before, but it's in Wikipedia:

USC should have already offered Nikki Oh a scholarship yesterday

Hey, there was a second NJ player in the matches along with Megan Meng ... both were eliminated today. Two big guns advanced by 6 & 5 scores, Jasmine Koo and RM Malixi. Other winners were familiar names ... Clemente, Borovilos and Talley.
Only one ROK flag in today's matches, which is next to the odd name of Chanel Dangela ... she advanced in 20 holes over Emma Wong of Bellevue, WA.
Two flags for Japan made it to the matches and both won. One of them was Yuka Nishina (age 14).

They're down to the last eight players ... and almost no upsets as six survivors are "name" players in my book (Clemente, Talley, Malixi, Koo, Prashanth and Borovilos) ... if you're in that neighborhood, get down there on Friday. No Canuck has ever won this championship or even reached the finals ... I predict that will end with Vanessa Borovilos ... she's got some horsepower in her swing from what I saw at Jersey City last year.
Jasmine Koo wiped out her first three opponents 6 & 5, 6 & 5 and 8 & 7 ... and I never heard of her next victim (Anna Fang).

I'm missing in action this week with numerous health problems. It's a shame, El Cab is fantastic and you can park a 100 yards from the entrance.

Malixi v Koo was a good battle. Koo was 3 down after 3 but took the lead after 9 holes. Malixi tied it at 12 and never looked back

The Expert is a perfect reverse barometer ... the Canuck went down the drain in the quarters.
* Talley ... last time I saw an iron with a red ferrule, it was an Epon.

Jasmine Koo played great to the last missed birdie putt on sixteen. However, Rianne Malixi was on a mission to get to the Finals

RM Malixi won it by 8 & 7 over * Talley, the biggest margin of victory since they started having 36-hole finals in 2006. This win earned her an exemption into the 2025 JM Eagle LA Championship, which will be played at El Cab (Wilshire CC will be undergoing renovations).

Congratulation to Rianne Malixi for a dominating win. Mission accomplished it was virtually over when the broadcast started. I think they said that she had fourteen birdies through twenty-seven holes.

Hyo Song was too busy dominating in the UK to play here, but I hope they will invite her to the US Women's Amateur and that she will come. Could be some fireworks!
