Round One:
POS NAME SCORE HOLE TODAY 1R 2R 3R 4R TOTAL 1 Sakura Koiwai -9 *F -9 63 63 2 Momoko Osato -7 F -7 65 65 3 Rio Takeda -6 *F -6 66 66 4T Minami Hiruta -5 *F -5 67 67 4T Sayaka Takahashi -5 F -5 67 67 6T Kotoko Uchida -4 F -4 68 68 6T Akira Yamaji -4 *F -4 68 68 6T Miyuu Yamashita -4 F -4 68 68 6T Risa Murata -4 *F -4 68 68
Google mush quotes from Rio Takeda:
Such a fulfilling day began with a "shock." First thing in the morning, on the 10th hole, Kim Min-sol (Korea) in the same group hit a driver shot. "Huh?" I thought. My next shot fell short by more than 10 yards. "I was surprised. It was out-driven. I thought I had to work a little harder."
Takeda is not puny, but was dwarfed by a 178m (5-10) ROK monster (-3).
Despite short turn-around from Lancaster, Sakura "Koy-why" played almost bullet-proof (10 birdies, 1 bogey)
Yui (+2)
Hori Two (-2)
Reika Usui (E)
Eunseo Choi(a) of NZ (-1)

No way could I get out of bed for the round three broadcast ... didn't even try. Btw, the cut was +2 and 65 players made it. Rio Takeda had a sore back late in round one and was a DNS the next day ... still plans to play in Japan next week and the KPMG/LPGA after that. POS NAME SCORE TODAY 1R 2R 3R 4R TOTAL 1 Kotoko Uchida -8 -3 68 71 69 208 2T Momoko Osato -7 -1 65 73 71 209 2T Sayaka Takahashi -7 -1 67 71 71 209 4T Akie Iwai -6 -5 72 71 67 210 4T Sora Kamiya -6 -5 71 72 67 210 4T Hikaru Yoshimoto -6 +1 69 68 73 210 7T Serena Aoki -5 -1 69 71 71 211 7T Miyuu Yamashita -5 0 68 71 72 211 7T Kumiko Kaneda -5 0 69 70 72 211 7T Chisato Iwai -5 +2 70 67 74 211 7T Sakura Koiwai -5 +2 63 74 74 211
Minsol Kim (-4) is first among the amateurs ... Google mush paragraph from an article regarding her Japan debut on Thursday:
The large crowd gathered to see Takeda Reo and Iwai Chirei, who had just returned from the US, began to get excited about another player who was 178 cm tall and had not been noticed. "Who?", "Amateur!", "He's big", "He can fly like crazy"... At the start of the par 4 10th hole, Kim Min-sol made a big drive that left two of the young long hitters representing the Japanese tour behind. With one swing, it was 17-year-old Korean amateur Kim Min-sol who attracted attention.
The article says she will turn 18 on June 15 and will turn pro in July ... and wants to play the U.S. tour one day.

Jui Kawamoto had four birdies and two bogeys to finish tied for sixth place. She made bogey on her last hole and ended up tied with six other golfers. If she had made par, she would have been two-way tie for fifth place. Still another top ten

Min Sol had a crummy final day and won't even be the sole low amateur. Better luck next time!

Second place for Yamashita ... still needs a miracle to make Japan's Olympic team ... is in the field for KPMG.

It's good that they carry multiple low-am trophies for such occasions ... Minsol Kim (-2), Momoko Osato (3rd win on Japan's big tour) and Rianne Malixi (-2)
The Suntory winner gets an invite to the WBO ... Osato has to complete her passport paperwork, hasn't played overseas since high school.
The Shinster (-4) is another one who needs a miracle to make her Olympic team ... but, is in the field at KPMG.
Nana Suganuma (-4) and Hori Two (E)
