The rain has passed and I don't hear thunder anymore, so we'll get started soon. The Mel Reid couple(?) arrived ... Mel carrying her own bag and pushing a baby stroller. Never saw this before: a Travis Mathew trailer selling that brand ... there's also a tent for the brand Rhone (never heard of it). Yubol's Fouteen bag is in the players dining area ... MUST take a picture of it later.

Ashley Shaw(a) on the range ... must be part-Asian ... will NOT get out-fashioned by anyone this week. Her mom is looping her Mizuno staff bag which has an AZ Golf logo on it. Ash is hitting a Mizzy muscle back iron ... I'm too far away to see what kind, will investigate later ... Cyborg on her left, Lewis on her right.
Earlier, Ariya 51 teed off at #1 ... took a video from behind ... a short par-4 that asks for a going draw from the daring players ... she hit a non-steel shafted iron, which I expected ... another investigation for later.

They're running 40 minutes behind ... Marina has the NFL group ... I recognize two names, Ottis Anderson and Jeff Feagles ... just teed off at #1. Molly M-S is in the next group with C. Knight. Very few celebrities among the ams, compared to past years.

They're into a breeze at par-5 2nd, 482 yards. They used Marina's ball, which finished on the center stripe, about 255 yards to center of the green (guarded by a brook). Feagles the Gorilla hits driver off the deck and gets there in two. I found his ball in the rough from his drive ... plays a Titleist #18 with Super Bowl 42 championship stamped on it. I heard him say to OJ that he grew up in Scottsdale, which explains a lot. He tees his ball about a half-inch above the crown of his driver.

Mollie put a nice swing on her ball at the par-4 3rd ... hitting Callaway Rogue, black with gold trim ... IIRC, she hit a Cally Epic with green and white trim a couple of years back.
Just joined Penguin Princess at par-4 5th ... she's with a couple of guys who can pummel it. A Korean girl is inside the ropes (relative or mgr?).
I noticed that Beth Daniel is going out as am later with Auston Idol. I saw BD's bag 15+ years ago ... gleaming Cleveland CG 1 irons ... like ginsu knives ... another investigation for later.

NASA at the par-3 8th ... her regular loop (I forgot his name) is not here ... that is T-Mac with her. PP hit the green at #7 ... gaming Ping irons ... more homework to find out which ones. Cheeseburger Chad looping for Money Chien on the 15th green ... I guess he didn't last long with The Ice Cream Princess.

The Pink One still with TaylorMade ... P790 irons and TM wedges, except for Vokey 60. Pretzel dropped by in a cart to chat ... had a dog on a leash with her. Linn Grant's bag has Ping Blueprint S irons, except for #5 which is i210. Yoshida has B-Stone 221CB+ irons, except for #5 which is 222CB+ (lead tape on this one) ... not much difference between these models from what I can see.

I was downrange in the left rough at #1 ... I exchanged waves with MHL and then she came over to the ropes to give me a caddie hug ... she wished me Happy New Year ... and she said Hee Young Park is also playing this week. I replied that she's playing well when she gets the chance. After she walked away, I wondered why she mentioned The Rocket ... then it hit me ... I was wearing a polo shirt by the Abacus brand.🤣 Yep, the Asian golfers are all in fashion. A Korean guy was carrying her bag ... maybe she gave Sir Nick the day off. I haven't seen her daddy. She drove it 15 yards past Marina at #1.

So much to report on, so I'll be brief ... MHL gave me a dining pass for the whole week ... and after I made my third trip to the food line, her loop Soo Min found me and handed me a grounds pass for the week. IS SHE THE BEST?!
Just watched Fassi play the craptastic par-4 18th hole ... playing 320, Fassa tees off with an iron into a landing area wider than the Grand Canyon. Her coach was with her and it might have been Joe Hallett ... he's been with Lewis for ages (if it was him).

I chatted up Savannah Grewal and some guy with her .... she was gaming Ping G710 irons with a black finish, which I never saw before ... she has had them for ages. However, she recently ordered a new set of Ping i530 irons. Maybe missing cuts prompted the change. After she played #18 where she hit three lousy shots, she went to the range ASAP. The guy walking inside the ropes was probably her dad and he appears to be her coach on the range, too.

I forgot to check when the shuttles stopped running ... oops ... found a nice person in the transportation area to drive me to the public lot. At least I beat the rush hour leaving here at 7:45 pm, I hope.
