The tournament poster has no players, just an overhead shot of the coast holes at the Kawana Hotel GC (Fuji Course) - the real star of this event. It starts Friday for a field of 108 ... top-50 plus ties make the cut.

Bio regarding course architect C.H. Allison (1882 - 1952) -
*************
Sakura-chan was one day too early by scoring this ace during the pro-am ... do it in competition and it will be worth 6 million yen (about $39K USD).
Her Google mush comments on this venue:
This week's stage, Kawana Hotel GC Fuji Course, is a seaside course. In addition to the sea breeze from Sagami Bay, it features a fairway with tight undulations and a Koma grass green with a strong grass pattern that is rare on tour. ``I'm not good at Goryeo greens, but this week's putter is different, so I don't think too much about it.'' He has passed the qualifying rounds in all five tournaments he has participated in in the past. His best result was 3rd place (2021), which is not bad.
"This course is very dependent on your putting. Even if you think about it in detail, it won't go in, so I want to keep in mind that I'm going to hit it roughly, and don't worry about it even if I don't go in. I want to focus on my image."
A birthday this week for defending champ Sora Kamiya.

Yui Kawamoto got too minus two but had late bogeys on fifteen and eighteen to drop to even. Still another cut made which is great. Hope she keep improving so I don't have to look at the cut line first.

The cut was +2 and 53 players made it.
POS NAME SCORE TODAY 1R 2R 3R TOTAL 1 Rio Takeda -8 -4 67 67 134 2T Ai Suzuki -5 -6 72 65 137 2T Mao Nozawa -5 -2 68 69 137 4T Mitsuki Kobayashi -4 -3 70 68 138 4T Amiyu Ozeki -4 -1 68 70 138 6T Sakura Koiwai -3 -2 70 69 139 6T Sayaka Takahashi -3 -2 70 69 139 6T Haruka Morita -3 -2 70 69 139 6T Kanako Ishida -3 -1 69 70 139 6T Nanako Inagaki -3 -1 69 70 139
Rio Takeda (#74 on Rolex) is on such a heater that she'll probably skip Monday's USWO qualifier in Japan.
Reika Usui (MC)
Shuri Sakuma (E) and Hana Lee (+2)
Sakura Koiwai scored eagles on two of the par-fives.
Ji Hee Lee (MC)
Kanako Ishida
On Friday, Kana Nagai (MC) picked up her second ace this year in two weeks ... this was NOT the 6 million yen hole.

Rio Takeda had her older bro on the bag ... second straight win and sixth top-10 in last seven starts ... will probably be in Rolex top-60 by Monday, so has even more reason to skip her USWO qualifier.
