Round 2
Min Byeol continues to underperform. Thankfully she had an eagle on her last hole to only shoot 74, but otherwise she has just been making a lot of small mistakes here and there that have cost her. Six bogies, an eagle and two birdies.
Hwang and Bang are looking to bring the heat in the final round. I still have my fingers crossed that Ayean Cho can steal this one. She has apparently struggled with a mysterious malady that sucked her strength out of her, which caused her driving distance to plummet to 216 yards in 2023. But from what I'm seeing, it looks like that is no longer the case. I measured a 270 yarder on one hole (with ample roll). If she gets back to her previous distance she could have a great year.
Interesting that there are so few fans. I would think that Thai fans would be interested in seeing some of the best golfers in Asia play against some of their own, but other than Cutieful, it feels like no one is being followed...
Hwaiting!

The final round is turning into a barn burner. Bang in the lead. Minji is right on her heels. Yewon nearly holed out from the fairway and is one back. Huge names slugging it out for the title. Great!
[EDIT]: Both Yewon and Min Ji put their tee shots into the water on the par 3 14th. OUCH! Then Bang put her tee shot into the woods on 13. This is getting much crazier!

Well one of the fab threesome played good Ga Young Lee had minus three. Both Hee Jeong Lim and Min Byeol Kim shot plus one. No worry they have two weeks to work things out.
Min Ji Park had climbed to the top of the Leaderboard. But hit short into the water on par three fourteen and made a double bogey. Yewon Lee followed and hit over the fourteen and saved bogey. She made a birdie the next hole to tie for the lead. Because Shin Sil Bang made back to back bogeys on thirteen and fourteen. Still to close to call

Min Ji Park took two shots to get out of the bunker on par three seventeen for another double. Shin Sil Bang followed her back to back bogeys with a double on par five fifteen. Jung Min Hong just made a double on par five fifteen to drop three off the lead.
Yewon Lee played well but it looks like sort of a gift .
Min Kyung Choi is within one shot but I am not going to stay for a playoff if she ties Yewon

After hitting it into the water on 14, Yewon didn't make any more mistakes. Bang kind of fell apart, and so did Jung Min Hong; both screwed up on the par 5 15th, with doubles. If you are Bang you absolutely cannot mess up on a par 5 like that and still win. Min Ji had a second double on the par 3 17th thanks to hitting short into a bunker, then not getting out on her first try.
In the end, the only player who threatened Lee was Min Kyung Choi. She birdied 16 to move to within one, but only parred the last two holes. Great win for Lee! Looks like she might have another massive season coming!

This article talks about the pivotal hole in the championship, the tricky par 3 14th. When Yewon and Min Ji got here, Bang had the lead along with Hong and Min Ji, with Ye Won one back. Both Min Ji and Yewon hit it into the water, but Yewon made bogey while Park made double. Meanwhile, Bang bogies 13, then hits the green on 14 and three putts for her own bogey. From that point on, Yewon took over.

The socials lit up as Yewon took over.
Last week Yewon was likely tense; trying to live up to her own expectations.
I definitely didn't expect this. It didn't look likely as players made the turn. The course took players out and Bang Shinsil couldn't control her driver again on a back nine on a Sunday. Also on Friday, the scores were pretty good. I am surprised the final score was only about four shots better than Friday. The wind and pin positions really caused problems.
Anyway, Yewon wins her third on another island.

Bang has put herself into contention the last two weeks, and had she played just a little better she might have had two wins. I feel like she is inching closer to becoming a world beater. Yeah, she's still beating herself as much as being beaten right now, but we'll see how that develops. I'm betting as she continues to regularly contend she'll not panic so much when in contention.
I'm not worried yet about Min Byeol, because all three events she's played this year have been in different environments than she is used to. We'll see if she continues to play like this when she gets back to more familiar territory. I still think she has enormous potential.
