This article deserves its own thread. With the Solheim Cup approaching, there will be discussion (as there usually is) about all the players who are left out every year. Should there be a Seoulheim Cup? Asia Needs its Own Solheim Cup

As I said in the other thread.....it would play 3rd fiddle to the Solheim and Int'l Crown....no one outside of S. Korea would care.

The author of that article completely overlooked the International Crown as well as the fact that for historical reasons Korea, Japan and China want to compete against each other rather than be on the same team, one of the reasons why Mike Whan did not create a female version of the Presidents Cup. Not so much a problem with the PGA Tour, who created and still control the Presidents Cup, as there are almost no world class male golfers from China yet and there are just a handful of Koreans, with their top player (Sang Moon Bae) questionable depending on when his mandatory enlistment in the military begins this fall and whether Nick Price takes a chance on picking him.

The KLPGA vs. the American players would be entertaining. The US would have a good chance, as long as a hot dog eating contest is part of the competition.

LMAO Stop it OK...I just spewed on my keyboard again. The Yank team only needs to be manned by Xtina and Bam Bam....actually I think Wie can chow down too....no gluten though.

The KLPGA vs. the American players would be entertaining. Now THAT I'd watch. (provided that the gals who have come from the KLPGA the past two seasons don't play for the LPGA, that is!). Seriously, Solheim is almost a joke at this point. The old excuse, that it's a tradition, is ludicrous on so many levels (they've used the argument since the event was eight years old in 1998. Some tradition! And a Hungarian player could play, but not a Korean? Because of course, there's that longstanding Hungary vs. US rivalry to consider). Asia/Korea vs. US is the big rivalry in women's golf and has been for some time, not US vs. Europe (that's the men). All these frothing-at-the-mouth types over here who post negatively whenever a Korean wins would get uber worked up about such a match. The Americans who are tired of losing to the Koreans would get highly motivated for some payback. And it's a given that it would be huge in Asia. And it's the best way to introduce these Asian players to Western fans who may have resisted them, as the article rightly points out. But it will never happen, so at least we have the flawed but better-than-nothing International Crown (and the Olympics every other cycle).

But it will never happen, so at least we have the flawed but better-than-nothing International Crown (and the Olympics every other cycle). The Solheim might be fluff, but the Yanks love the event...especially middle aged women who travel to the event so they can flag wave and yell....USA USA ALL THE WAY....it's only a matter of time until it's replaced with BABA BOOEY and MASHED POTATOES. It also gives the Yank pros the opportunity every two years to face paint, wear hair ribbons. paint their nails red, white & blue and showcase their tiaras. The US loves the Solheim......in 2013...the attendance in Colorado smoked the non existent gallery at the USWO at Sebonack. I don't think the attendance in Germany will be great. In 2017, I think the attendance in Des Moines might be pretty good as small town markets will support events, as they are rare. The attendance for the 2013 & 2014 USSO was very good in Omaha and Edmond. Come on Happy, your a Merican....where's your patriotism for the Solheim.....I think you put out two extra American flags on your porch and face paint during the Solheim Cup...you just won't admit it. I for one really enjoy watching the Solheim and I'm a Canuck & Chinese......and have no skin in the game. I will record every moment. If Pan Asia was really serious to make change....it's up to Korea, Japan, China, NZ, Oz, Taiwan and Thailand...as a consortium.....to approach John Solheim with a business case/plan to remove the Euros and replace them with a Pac Rim team. It's a no brainer that the growing golf market is in Pan Asia and not Europe....therefore club sales, apparel and exposure for Ping. Heck...show me the money.......and I could develop a pretty stronger business case for them. Unless Pan Asia does something...nothing will happen. There's not enough bandwidth for 3 women's international events.....the inaugural Int'l Crown was not well attended....it may change a bit at Rich Harvest Farms cause ChiTown hasn't seen women's golf for some time. Let's face it...The Prez Cup is a very distant little sibling event compared to the Ryder Cup. We see posters, etc at KLPGA events....... so will we see this same fandom in S. Korea for the Korean players on the team at the Prez Cup?
