Starting today and going for 8 days, the 11th playing of a traditional event will take place in Malaysia. The Rookie Championship pits 12 promising rookies from the KLPGA class of 2024 in a televised competition. Among those who have played this in the past are Ayean Cho, Hee Jeong Lim, So Young Lee and Da Yeon Lee. The first round consists of six match play rounds between the 12 players. The six losers play a stroke play round, and the two leaders there advance with the six match play winners into an 8 player bracket and more match play happens, until there is finally one rookie winner. here is a link to the story. The event will be televised on SBS Golf several times over the next few weeks. It looks like it won't show up live but will appear first in January, but if I find out differently, I'll let you know! |

The first episode of this challenge will air on the 22nd; presumably there will be highlights available on YouTube, or you can seek it out online. The first match pits Cherry Lim against Dong Eun Lee. Here's a summary of what to expect We will see a few of the rookies I have posted photos/videos of, such as Lim and Lee, Bo Mi Kim 3, and Da Eun Kim. Cherry did a good job given that she was playing the top ranked rookie in the field. It feels like she's trying to reduce expectations by pointing out that she is also the youngest rookie in the field. Anyways, it will be fun to follow them this year!

Part two is ready. This time we will watch #2 ranked Sun Yeong Lee 2 vs. #11 ranked Sung Hee Jeon. Lee is a much longer hitter, while Jeon is more of a finesse player. Which will win?
