And a big congratulations to Amy Yang, winner of the 2023 CME Globe, her 5th LPGA championship and first in the USA. A great ending to what was frequently a frustrating year for the sisters. Maybe the universe is getting back in harmony...

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cz12lTdOmAc Congratulation to Amy Yang big win enabled by some great approach shots. Start of the broadcast first five holes, she made a birdie but left three makeable birdie putts short. However the Eagle on thirteen was a game changer and she finished strong.

I'll admit I curbed my enthusiasm for Amy after seeing her trip up so often on Sundays.
She forever blasted away that perception with a stellar performance today.

Congrats to Amy Yang! After so many lackluster Sundays when she had chances to win but underperformed, she was absolutely brilliant today. And after a really trying year for the Koreans, we saved the best for last. If you're going to win your first ever win on US soil after 16 years of trying, not much better ways to do it than to claim the biggest prize in women's golf!
There was a little luck, and I'm still frustrated by the easiness of this course; they were also doing lift clean and place a lot this week. This was the lowest winning score of the year. They really need to make a prestige event like this harder. But you can't say she didn't deserve it; she was cool under pressure and made some really good decisions, especially when she hit to the perfect spot on the approach on 17. Her chip there put the deal away.
Amazingly, she was also the oldest winner on tour this year (34), and the second oldest Korean to ever win behind Eun Hee Ji. But whatever age she may be, this was possibly the best I've ever seen her play; here's hoping we have many more years like this in store! I still would like to see her get a Major before she retires. She was actually saying earlier in the year that she still wanted one. After this week, I gotta say -- why not?
Congrats again to Amy on her long awaited triumph!

Hearty congratulations to Amy Yang! Finally winning on American soil and picking the best spot to do so.
Thank you, HappyFan, for identifying the not-so-obscure Korean golfer.

The crowd responsible for the champagne shower. Looks to me like A Lim might have been the mastermind... Even Thitikul participated! That's her in the orange shirt, right?

I just keep thinking, at the end of a long and mostly frustrating and disappointing year, Amy erased all those bad memories in the final tournament, the CME, and left us all happy going into the winter... AMY!!!!! Agree with you HF that it would be great to see Amy win a major... and I always love her hat though she didn't wear it on Sunday when she won, she had a standard visor...
I personally was also happy to see Lilia have such a great year. She and Kupcho are my two favorite American golfers. "Lilia Vu, I love you!" Their situation is nowhere near as bad as the sisters, but Jen and Lilia don't seem to get the attention that they deserve either. Even after Lilia did something that hadn't been done in about 25 years, win two majors as an American, gotta keep those cameras on Lexi, Nelly, Brooke, all the blonde Scandinavians, and Fassi. Did I miss anyone?
Also happy to see Angel get her first win in 2023.
And very happy to join this board and meet so many great people on here. Occasionally there are minor disagreements and differences of opinion, but we are all united in support of the sisters! Hope Amy gets her major in 2024, Jin Young and Sei Young stay healthy and get back in form with some wins, of course Six, the one who originally got me to resume my interest in LPGA after many years (thanks to Hank Haney's ridiculous comments!) Hye-Jin, Hyo Joo, 안나린 (so-called "Anna Lynn"). All the sisters, the incoming rookies from Epson or Q-school. AMY, YOU REESTABLISHED OUR FAITH AND BELIEF after a mostly disappointing year. Let's all believe that 2024 is going to be a great year... you gotta believe!

It was a bit of a bummer that Hyo Joo missed out on the Vare, but we got this great win from Amy and Hae Ran's fantastic rookie season, so even with all the disappointments in 2023 (I'm still not over the International Crown), they managed to raise my spirits a lot in the past week, and I thank them.
I know Thitikul is a proud Thai, but I also get the feeling that she really likes the Koreans. She seems to be hanging out with them a lot, and with her best friend being the KLPGA's Yunji Jeong and her sponsor being Korean, I think she is almost a secret Sister in a way.
I just watched Golf Central, and a very large part of the show was about Amy's win and career. Brandel did a nice rundown of some of Amy's near misses at Majors. I knew she had a lot, but man, she had a LOT: 2012 US Women's Open: in the final group with NYC on Sunday. NYC was too far ahead to catch, but Amy finished second, four shots ahead of third. Bad timing or she would have had a Major win there. 2014 US Women's Open: played in the final group on Sunday with eventual winner Michelle Wie. 2015 US Women's Open: started the final round with a three-shot lead, shot a final round 71, but got passed by In Gee Chun, who shot a 66 in the performance that made her a legend. 2016 US Women's Open: missed the eventual playoff at Cordevalle by two shots. 2017 US Women's Open: One back going into the final round, but shot a 75 and Sung Hyun Park won.
And of course this year she was one back at the Chevron in the final round but didn't have a great Sunday and Vu won it.
Oh, and I forgot that she finished tied for fourth at the Rio Olympics -- one shot out of a bronze!
I don't think that's even all of them. Top five at the 2010 US Women's Open and British Women's Open, for example. And on and on. But no wins.
Anyways, they interviewed her at their desk (the setup was outside at Tiburon) at the end of the show, and I've never seen anything like it. There was a large crowd of people standing behind them, hooting and hollering, chanting 'Amy! Amy! Amy!' and generally making a huge racket every time she said anything. The interviewers couldn't help but laugh. These were fans, not the players. Perhaps one of the most popular wins of the year!
One more thing I wanted to say: when I was looking up the Major info, I was reminded about how, after one of Amy's first LET wins, she gave THE ENTIRE CHECK to earthquake relief in China. And this was when she was just starting out and probably didn't have a lot of savings. A really awesome lady, and so happy to see her have this moment.
