Interesting things to watch for this week.
Money List Winner: Yewon Lee
Yewon Lee has secured the money list title for 2023, but if she can manage a win, she might also be able to top Min Ji Park's record for biggest season total of all time.
Player of the Year Winner: Yewon Lee
Yewon Lee clinched this last week!
Rookie of the Year Min Byeol Kim leads
Min Byeol Kim has a 300 point lead over Youmin Hwang. Hwang will need to win this week and probably needs Kim to miss the cut or drop out, otherwise the ROY will go to Kim.
In addition, Kim has 2,847 total points, which is the second highest rookie point total in history. Last year, Yewon Lee (her again?) became the first rookie to ever break 3000 points; she scored 3,001 in fact. Kim needs 155 points to top that record, which is probably a third place finish or better. Lee also made her record setting total without a win, and if Kim finishes third or second, she will top that score also without getting a win. Of course, we fans of hers are hoping she can finally get her first win this week!
Scoring Average Yewon Lee leads
Yewon Lee again leads, by more than a quarter stroke over Su Ji Kim, and barring a catastrophe should collect this title as well.
Most Wins
Lee, Ji Young Park and Jin Hee Im all have three wins this season. If one of them wins, they will collect this award, otherwise they will probably all tie (there are a few with two wins, like Shin Sil Bang and Yu Jin Sung, who could get a third win and join them).

A couple more things to watch:
There are four players who can move over the 1 billion mark for season earnings this week.
Ji Young Park needs to finish 7th or better.
Jin Hee Im needs to finish third or better.
Su Ji Kim needs to finish second or better (if she does, she becomes just the second player to break a billion twice).
Hyun Kyung Park needs to win.
There are two players who can break Yewon Lee's record last year of the most money earned in a season without a win.
So Mi Lee or Min Byeol Kim can break the record with a solo second. Obviously if they finish higher, they win, and thus wouldn't have the record!

Of course, there has been amazing golfers in the KLPGA tours history, but from the above posts the journalist who said this was the Yewon Era after HiteJinro Championship was likely spot on. 😄

I read an article today which clarified the Rookie race.
First, this is a no-cut event, which means that every rookie in the field is guaranteed to earn 85 rookie points if she completes the event.
Second, the winner will gain 310 points.
Third, Min Byeol Kim has a 300 point lead over Youmin Hwang. Thus, the largest number of points Hwang can gain on Kim if she wins and Kim finishes last is 310 - 85 = 225, which will not be enough to overtake Kim and win the Rookie of the Year.
Basically, if Kim finishes the week, there is no way she can lose ROY. Even if she drops out, Hwang has to win the event to win the ROY.
So it's basically in the bag for Kim unless something disastrous happens.

They published a list of the players who have had the greatest increase and greatest decrease in their money totals from last year to this year.
In the biggest increase category, the winner is Do Yeon Park. She increased her money earned by more than 10 fold, from just over 12 million to over 145 million. The top five:

I gotta say, with Min Byeol having a terrible first day, all the air went out of this for me. I don't really care what happens; just hope Min Byeol finishes the season without incident and collects the Rookie of the Year. The 3000 point total is uncatchable at this point.
