MHL's projected finish for The Globe is #58 ... too close for comfort.
"What is this stuff?"

Finally! A JLPGA tournament we can watch in the States. Top of the leaderboard is covered with rising suns.

But Jenny, Seon Woo, and MHL are at least competitive... along with the other eleven golfers currently T7 at minus-13. We are getting quite a bit of tv coverage of the sisters, those three and Jiyai, on tonight's broadcast.

Didn't see any of Round Three ... will definitely watch Round Four tonight.
The new Queen Shiho eagled both par-5s on the back nine Saturday, which were set at 469 and 458 yards ... and it was a chip-in eagle at #17. Has nine top-10s this year and cut her stroke average by one shot over last year.

Why do the LPGA keep making par fives long par fours. That why I hardly ever watch it anymore, except Final Round if somebody I like is near the top. The only reason it's the top Tour is because of the players, and money otherwise it's run like a Junior League

Just got to my destination after a long day of travel so missed much of the final round. Looks like someone plugged in Jiyai, she's probably heading for a top five finish at worst, right now she's T3. And Seon Woo just picked up another stroke to pass Jiyai! And Inami bogeyed the 15th so there's a sister tied for the lead! Gave a big smile on camera after sinking the birdie...
Lots of bright almost Fur-oo intensity yellow on the course today; is that a tradition in Japan on Sunday? Even Suwannapura sporting a shirt, more like a sleeveless vest, that looks like it could have come out of Ayaka's closet, just in a bigger size...
Otherwise just relaxing, checking back on the Oregon State-Colorado game occasionally, and sipping a Sun King orange vanilla cream ale that I packed in my luggage. Saw a guy wearing a Purdue shirt on the light rail to the terminal here in Orlando and gave him a "Boiler Up!" His reply was "Not tonight!" Ok, Michigan won by 28 but failed to cover the 32.5... harder to cover when the opponent is wise to your signal stealing. "Cheaters and worst!"

NASA failed to lift off today ... and then on the par-4 15th, her second shot was in the right rough with overhanging branches in front off her ... she choked way down on an iron and attempted to hit a fade off of a hook lie ... to paraphrase Ewan Porter, she got way in front of it, hit a hosel rocket and almost annihilated 84 people. He also suggested a Phil Mickelson methodology for more effectively handling this shot. I hope this video gets posted later ... btw, GC will repeat this broadcast at 6 AM on Tuesday.
********
They posted the WITB data for NASA and Kuwaki ... have they been doing that lately on GC? Can't remember the last time for an LPGA event. Kuwaki has a couple of funky native craftsman wedges ... a micro-brand produced in someone's basement, maybe! I have a pic of one in the JLPGA Miyagi TV tourney thread.
********
The way this is going, I might be seeing "See-uhn"* Woo Bae in person for the first time since 2017 a few months from now.

Oh boy, three days under par and MHL still ate a lot of dust.

Congrats to Mone Inami on her first LPGA tour win, the 2023 Toto Japan Classic. She won it in Fur-oo yellow. And big congrats to sister Seon Woo Bae for a 2nd place finish! Jiyai was 4th.
I'm in Florida now on business until Monday night. The sisters will be arriving later in the week...

In the News section of the LPGA website, the most current item has a pic with Mone Inami with the title of her winning the tournament ... but, when I click on it, the story is all about The Zhangster on Saturday.
I checked three different sources, but none of them mentioned whether or not Inami plans to join the LPGA ... I suppose it's too early to make a snap decision ... especially since she was in perfect position to apply for the 2021 LPGA Q-series after all those JLPGA wins, but did not. I assume her Rolex ranking by next spring will be good enough to get her into Lancaster.
The picture caption translates to "Mone Inami Teamed up with Takashi Hoshina caddy" .... he'd fit in on the LPGA, too ... sitting on a stump with a cigarette.

Great Round by Final Round Queen Jiyai Shin sixty five for a fourth place tie. A shout out to Seon Woo Bae sixty seven put her one stroke off the lead.
Jenny Shin was the only LPGA Korean golfer to get inside top twenty with a top fifteen tie

Wish I could stay here a few more days, but it's back to the usual on Tuesday. At least it's not going to be 17 degrees tomorrow night when I get off the plane in Chicago, like it was the last time I came back from a Florida meeting in November. That's minus-8 for all you Celsius fans around the world!

The problem with these low scoring events is that it's really hard to make a move from way back, even if you are playing brilliantly. Jiyai and Seon Woo were great on Sunday, but it felt like no matter how many birdies they made, they were always going to be one or two short. Which happened, although it ended up being closer than I was expecting.
So, I did end up watching it a bit on Sunday, but I never felt excited because of what I said above. It just seemed inevitable, on a course where even Jiyai Shin was reaching par 5s in two, that one of the Japanese was going to make just enough birdies to top the Sisters. Still, great job by those two; it shows that the Koreans still have the capability to contend.
Of course, as nice as that was, we still had the issue that the only Koreans who mattered were players who don't play on the LPGA. This is not going to go away this year I think. But hopefully some new blood, and perhaps one or two players getting their act together in the off season, will produce a far more exciting 2024.
