Starts Friday for a field of 96 ... top-50 plus ties make the cut. They had a Monday qualifier and 15 players passed it, including past tour winner Kotono Kozuma. Akira Yamaji returned from the U.S. and passed with a 68 ... Google mush comments later:
``I arrived at Haneda last night after traveling from the US Women's Tour qualifying round. It's a tough schedule, but I didn't suffer from jet lag and was able to play well today. It was a disappointing result, but I tried my best. It was fun because I was able to play golf. Players from overseas don't seem to care about hitting one OB, and I remember that I was like that when I was good. I had a series of bogeys today as well. However, I was able to switch right away and play with all my might, and I gained a lot emotionally. After this, I will be competing on both the JLPGA Tour and the Step Up Tour, but my goal is to win the matches I play in. The main tournament. I will first rest my body and do my best to win the championship.”
First year high schooler Tsukiha Nakashima finished first with a career-low 66 ... says her idol is The Shinster.
Sunday's stream, if they don't block it ... Japan time:

Practice -
It appears that Yuri Yoshida (right) might have baby sis Rin carrying (or pushing) her bag this week ... Yoshida Two is #35 on WAGR, don't know how long she plans on remaining an amateur.
The Unknown Korean
Hori Two
Hina (The Face) Arakaki
Erika Hara could avoid explaining the DQ at LPGA q-school
The Shinster leads by less than 21 points in the Mercedes ranking over Yamashita

I'm watching the replay on TV Asahi in blackout mode ... will the Unknown Korean finally kick the door in? She's playing the par-5 16th, one shot back of leader Yamashita, who left herself a long birdie putt at the par-3 15th.

One of the best final round broadcasts the JLPGA has had in a long time ... ending in a 3-way playoff.
Is HANA LEE still unknown? NO bogeys on Sunday ... and yes, she was already qualified for Toto LPGA.
Rogue video at the 1st hole showing Lee's helluva good setup and driver swing starting at 1:49:51 ... obviously didn't get distracted by nuke shots from the book end bruisers in her group.

WTH, was this his first win on the big tour, too? 😭
An article says she switched to a draw mid-season to gain more distance with the driver and lengthened the shaft by .75" to 46".
Ai Suzuki (-1) fell apart with an 80.
Sakura Koiwai
Sakura Yokomine (+3)
Yuka Nii has seven top-10s this season.
