2. Honorine Nobuta Ferry (a) is in the field ... WHO???! I looked her up ... #1687 on WAGR (career high at #795) ... H.S. class of 2028, which would make her about 13 ... has played a dozen junior or amateur events in 2023 ... with her name, maybe she's an heir to the Nobuta Group empire ... AJGA profile:

Bo Mee is arguably the greatest Korean golfer who never played on the LPGA. Even Ok Hee Ku and Woo Soon Ko played briefly over here, but Bo Mee spent her entire career in Korea and Japan. It's between her and Sun Ju Ahn I guess. Sun Ju got there first, becoming the first Korean to lead the Japanese money list, but Bo Mee became a real superstar over there. She not only led the money list several times, she set the record for most money made in a season that even broke the all time record for the MEN'S tour. Her fame in Japan was greater than just golf; for a while she appeared on game shows, variety shows and even had a travel show (!). I recall a cartoon featuring her as well. Marrying into K-Drama royalty didn't hurt her popularity; her husband is the younger brother of superstar Kim Tae Hee and is himself an actor of some fame. We'll miss her, but I'm guessing she won't be far from TV screens in her retirement! |
