They'll be at Awara Golf Club (Sea Course, 6528 yds) alongside the Sea of Japan, about 140 miles west of Tokyo. The action starts Thursday for a field of 120 ... top-60 plus ties make the cut. Among the 26 amateurs is Caitlin Pierce of Oz who reached the round of 16 at the 2023 USWA. Ayaka Furue will be here ... Baba-chan will not (playing the 19th Asian games in China this week).

The JWO was played here 40 years ago and only one player broke par ... the players now are a lot better, but don't expect a birdiefest ... they cut down a lot of trees so they'll feel the wind coming off the Sea of Japan on the last two holes.

Good news: the NHK-G stream worked early this AM. 
Ugh, 38 players broke par ... the committee needs to turn the screws now.  Mi Jeong Jeon and Madoka Kimura were booted for multiple uses of a rangefinder ... DOH! They're allowed by the JLPGA, but not by the JGA.

Nice article (above) on Momoko Ueda (-3) and her current gear choices ... much of which you'll find in the $25 - $50 trash barrels at the traveling golf show that hits your town in the winter.
However, she recently gave in to modernity by ditching her X-HOT 5W for an Apex UW.

I tuned into the NHK-G broadcast when it started at the 5th green ... they're now on the 13th green ... I can't remember if they've had any commercials ... wall-to-wall golf.
It has boiled down to the Erika vs. Erika show ... they'll show the other players during lulls, but they have no chance, except for Furoo (neon top and bottom) ... I'm not sure about her ... started hot, then butchered the 8th & 9th holes, but fixed herself with birdies at nos. 11 & 12.
Hara leads Kikuchi by two shots thru 12 and should win ... she is just plain better tee-to-green and has not hit one bad putt anywhere. Kikuchi is a wily old pro who's making par savers all over the place, but it's not enough. Hara looks impressive as hell ... if she plays like this at LPGA q-series, it'll be a cakewalk.
Yuri Yoshida ... I cannot understand why the JGA waited 40 years to come back to this venue for the JWO.
