JLPGA: 2014 Japan Women's Open

I wonder why Ai Miyazato is not playing. She has skipped a lot of tournaments this year. She hardly ever plays in Japan anymore. I am sure she gets invites, unless there is something behind the scene, that prevent her from playing.

Teresa Lu saved her best round of the 2014 Japan Women’s Open Golf Tournament for the final round, firing a 5-under 67 to capture her first JLPGA Major. Considering that Teresa could have opted to play on the LPGA Tour this year after winning the 2013 Mizuno Classic, it seems the correct decision was made staying in Japan. This is Lu’s second JLPGA victory of the year following the 2014 Resort Trust Ladies, her third JLPGA win overall and her first JLPGA Major. She also was paired with fellow Taiwanese Candie Kung at the International Crown to take down the high profile American pair of Cristie Kerr and Paula Creamer, 4 & 3 on day one. Teresa’s 8-under Japan Women’s Open overall score was enough to best Na-ri Lee by a single shot, vaulting from 11th place to champion on the final day. She is the first Taiwanese player to win the Japan Women’s Open since the 1991 victory by JLPGA legend Ai-Yu Tu, who won an astounding 69 times on the Japanese tour. Teresa will take home USD $254,800 for the victory. Teresa was presented the winner’s jacket by 2013 champion Mika Miyazato, who tied for 21st this year.

I would like to have seen Teresa give the LPGA another try also. On another note, I believe Chie Arimura should return to the JLPGA, because the LPGA courses appears to long for her. Either that or she is having a lot of trouble adjusting, to the lifestyle.

That's crazy great that a JLPGA major would pay out $250k US for a winner!!!
I'm kinda surprised the JLPGA seems more popular and well funded vs. the KLPGA....considering how golf crazy the Koreans are.
