This week, the task of saving the LPGA's reputation falls on the shoulders of NASA and Minami Katsu. It starts Friday for a field of 108 ... top-50 plus ties make the cut.

Other news items:
* Courtesy of Google Translate and Bing Translate, I think I confirmed that Yae Eun Hong (listed as ホン イェウン) is playing Stage Two of Japan's Pro-test/Q-school this week ... her IG has nothing on this, which was last updated six days ago. She opened with a 68 at Kure CC in Hiroshima and is T-2 ... three rounds remaining. Two other locations will have Stage Two qualifiers in October ... the final stage will be October 31 thru November 3.
* After acing Stage One, Suzuka Yamaguchi completed flopped at Kure CC with an opening 78 ... I don't know what the cut will be, but she might be toast already. At least she can "fall back" on playing Stage Two of LPGA q-school ... I think it was supposed to be the other way around.
* Baba-chan is through playing as an amateur ... will play Stage Two of LPGA Q-school in October (qualified to play by being top-5 on WAGR and top-400 on Rolex as of Aug. 15). She'll also be in the final stage of JLPGA q-school.

Using another source, I'm 100% sure that Yae Eun Hong is playing the JLPGA stage two q-school ... currently sitting at T-15 after shooting 68-71 ... I'm guessing the top-30 will advance to the finals. Mini Ting Ting is also here, sitting at T-2 (73-65). Ex-Gamecock Lois Kaye Go is at T-9 (73-66). Suzuka Yamaguch dug herself out of a hole (78-70), now at T-59. Mikhaela Fortuna, who shot 73.13 in five seasons at U of Oklahoma, is T-9 (70-69).

Yae Eun Hong continued in the wrong direction at q-school with a 78, dropping her to T-42 ... however, she'll play on Friday as they had a cut for the top 65 players.

Back to Dunlop ... pro-am Thursday:
The Boss and Miyuu Yamashita
Minami Katsu
NASA and Chako Higuchi
Eagle eye reporting on Shiho Kuwaki's bag ... per Google mush:
``I've been using it since high school, and I can't change it.'' It's a brand wedge called ``MOZ Wedge'' made by Kenmotsu Golf Seisakusho, a local club manufacturer in Okayama.``I like the face, and the spin is amazing. It's true for shots, and it spins even on a normal approach.''
I confirmed that it's on the approved USGA list.

My guess was pretty close ... 27 players will advance to the final stage of q-school ... Yae Eun Hong is not one of them ... the Philippines pair of Go (77) and Fortuna (78) gagged, so they won't advance ... Suzuka Yamaguchi kept her s*** together so she will advance. Mini Ting Ting also advanced.

Kotone Hori flamed out with seventy eight in second round.
Do they play a lot of preferred lie Tournaments on JLPGA.
Seems like the KLPGA plays a lot of Tournaments that way.
