The winner of this event gets a free pass into next week's USWA, as well as a spot in the Canuck Women's Open this month.
Lauren Kim of Surrey, BC already passed a qualifier for the USWA, but a victory at this one was a nice warm-up. She turns 18 next Friday and will join the Texas Longhorns in the fall.
I didn't expect to read this in the Golf Canada article:
Kim will also be awarded a cheque of $1,200. To align with the modernized Rules of Amateur Status, players at the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship, competed for a purse of $8,000 CAD. Along with Kim, top-10 finishers and ties earned prize money.
