Bang had an 8 on the par 5 10th that pretty much killed her. After a spectacular drive (around 320 meters downhill), she hit her second into the woods and took three shots to get out of there. At the time Su Ji Kim (in her group) was -3, but she also fell back and missed the cut sometime after the broadcast ended.

Shin Sil Bang the last two Tournaments has not been as sharp as was early in the year.
I thought that she could take an unplayable lie and gone back to where she hit her second shot from. Maybe hit her fourth shot on the green and make bogey, outside chance a par. Not sure but I believe she had that option

I know when you hit a provisional, if they find the original ball you can't use the provisional. Isn't a provisional exactly like hitting a second shot from where you hit the first one? So my guess is that that wasn't an option for her. Still, she must have been able to take a two-club lengths penalty from there, and the first shot wasn't that far off the fairway. She might have had a decent short pitch from near the green.
By the way, she didn't reach the green in two on 18 today either. Ina's achievement last year is looking more and more impressive.

Ok thanks, I guess going back to your original spot only applies to a lost ball. Or out of bounds

Congratulations to Ji U Ko for her come from behind win. She avoided a disaster on hole sixteen and saved par. What else is new a Ko won a tournament, with good shots and a hot putter.
I didn't expect Ga Eun Song to get the win but I was hoping she par eighteen for second place tie. However, a third-place finish is her best Tournament of the year

tv.naver.com/v/37589967McCall Mona FR Highlights Min Byeol Kim got in the mix to minus ten front nine with four birdies. But she had two bogeys no birdies back nine. That's ok because barring injuries she is going to win a lot of Tournaments.

I started watching the English language broadcast with Min Byeol Kim just a shot back and Youmin Hwang two back. They had closed from five back, so it felt like momentum was on their side. For about ten minutes I was excited, but then both of them made bogies, and Ji U Ko made an eagle, and just like that it was pretty much over. No one really challenged Ko until she messed up much later, but I went to bed before that. Still, they both got top tens, so a good result for the rookie stars, and Eugene had a nice week as well. Hyun Kyung somehow managed to nearly get a top ten, and Jin Hee Im came from absolutely nowhere to grab a top ten. Hwaiting! P.S. I find myself rooting a lot for Ji Hyun Lee 7, the other Nike Girl (I like both Nike gals, actually). Maybe it's cause she's a '7', I don't know. She had a solid start to her week but alas had an 80 on Sunday. Ah well, keep up the good fight! Here's a pic of her in April:

It's been an odd season on the KLPGA this year. We're in July and not a single Swing Girl (rookie class of 2019) has won yet. Last year four of them got wins: Ayean Cho and So Mi Lee had two each, Hee Jeong Lim and Ga Young Lee one each. Su Ji Kim hasn't won yet either in 2023.
Other than Min Ji's two wins, Yewon's win, and Bang's breakthrough, it's been mostly guests and second tier stars who have won. People like Bo Kyeon Park, Yu Jin Sung, Jin Hee Im, Joo Mi Lee, etc. Plus Hye Jin's win as a visitor. Then we've had completely surprising wins like this week's and Ji Won Hong at the Korea Women's Open.
I have a feeling that in the second half of the year there will be a correction and we'll start to see Swing Girls and rookies grab wins. Min Byeol, Youmin, et al, are too talented not get wins eventually. Hyun Kyung and So Mi will win this year, they're often around the leaders, especially HK. Ayean seems to be in another slump, so not sure she's getting a win this year, but she can recover anytime given her talent.
