Last year's event was the one where Ina Yoon became, literally overnight, one of the biggest names on tour. Entering the final round, Jin Hee Im had a solid lead, and no one was making a charge at her. Then, on the back nine, Ina made her move. After a 45 foot birdie putt on 17, she was two down, facing a par 5 that no one had been able to reach all week (even her). She went for it, pulverizing her drive. She was left with 222m (and 17m up) to the green, but incredibly, she made it in two, earning the nickname "Two on". She missed the eagle putt by a hair and ended up losing, but the video of her exploits became a huge viral sensation, her fan club quadrupled in size, and for the next month she was a growing star. I've already seen several articles talking about Shin Sil Bang, who has undergone a similar arc this season, asking if she can reach that green in two? I got up in time to see her birdie #18 for a 64. If last year is an accurate guide, a win by YJS will give her 16.5 points and push her into the Rolex top-75 ... how could she say no to Pebble Beach after almost winning Lotte in Hawaii? She is currently Rolex #88 ... if second place is worth 9.9 points, that MIGHT get YJS to Rolex # 75 ... don't think about 2nd place, think about WINNING.

Nobody's a bigger YJS fan than me but I hate to strip the title from So Yeon, especially since it was bestowed on her by a prestigious magazine.  YJS's nickname will come to one of us in an epiphany some day, no need to rush it...as long as it isn't "Young Jordan Spieth!"  |

Maybe I didn't notice, but they have NOT shown YJS once since the broadcast started about 50 minutes ago.  She is +1 on her first six holes ... she will snap out of it, she is too much of a thoroughbred no to ... although hitting her first drive off the planet for a double at #10 did not help her cause.  The good news is that she's NOT chasing a lot of monsters this week, although Ji is an experienced winner. |

Birch Hill GC is next to the Alpensia ski complex, which was used for the 2018 Winter Olympics ... in other words, they're in the middle of nowhere. The number of spectators is way below normal ... I hope they show Eee Ga Young soon to hear if she has all of her army this week. Meanwhile, they finally showed Spieth YJS at the par-3 17th, currently trails by four shots.  |

Ga Eun Song reminds me of Mi Hyun Kim with how she approach her shots and putts.
Also her grip on her putter looks the same.
Her first two rounds are also the same type of rounds Mi Hyun would have,
Ok! maybe it's not the same, but I sure miss Mi Hyun Kim and her no-nonsense approach to the game.
