Young Jordan Spieth Yu Jin Sung lighting it up at -4 on her first nine holes ... might be too far back to win ... currently #86 on Rolex ... getting to #75 by July 3 still in reach.

Jeez, Min Byeol Kim just holed out from 106 yards for an eagle at #1, now at -9.
********
With the leaders out there, they probably won't show much of Human Hwang, although she just got it to -4. She needs to get off this tour and get into LPGA q-school. Na On Min (aka NO Min) was probably the longest pound-for-pound driver on the LPGA in the last 15 years ... I think Human might be right up there.

This last group does nothing for me ... Da Som Ma just made a kick-in to go -13 and there was not a peep from this crowd ... no buzz at all for these three. Hoping that Min Ji, Su Ji, Human and Yeah, Lee Won would crash this party, but they're probably too far back. This is a good time to hit the sack for about three hours ... until the R&A Women's am starts on YouTube at 3:15 AM EST (two Yanks in the last eight players left).

Great round sixty six by Su Ji Kim. Da Som Ma made birdie to go to thirteen under and Min Byeol Kim made birdie to stay one back.
Min Ji Park just made bogey to drop to four back.
Min Byeol hit a flyer over the green. Ji Won Han and Ma Da Som has birdie putts.
Min Byeol Kim failed to get up and down drop to two back with Ji Won Hong. Min Ji Park can't seem to get any momentum going. Min Ji Park just made birdie to get within four.
However Da Som and Min Byeol are on par five sixteen in two.
Da Som Ma three putted for par and Min Byeol Kim two putted for birdie to move within one.
By the way Ye Won Lee has been just spinning her wheels in place.
Min Byeol hit into the back bunker on seventeen and had a tough lie and didn't get up and down.
Ok, game on Min Byeol Kim minus twelve and Da Som Ma minus fourteen both made birdie on eighteen. Ji Won Hong minus eleven, Min Sol Kim minus ten and Min Ji Park, minus nine are still in the mix.

It was a strange third round. This course isn't exactly hard, but it is the kind of course that can punish a player if she hits a stinker shot. As as result, a number of plodders like Ma and Ji Won Hong are near the top. They don't make a lot of big mistakes, and so they just need to make a few good shots here and there and they can stay near the top. It feels like it will be hard to make up ground on them, since you can shoot decent scores here, but great ones seem really rare. Min Ji kept looking like she was about to make a run, but never could sustain anything (though she had a lot of great shots and nearly birdies). This course also looks really fan unfriendly, and as a result the crowds seem to be sparser than I'm used to for a big event like this. You need to be a really dedicated fan to slog your way up and down those hills, and a number of tees are basically empty because no one can or wants to walk up to them. Still, we are getting an interesting glimpse of the future, which looks like it will be tall and long hitting. Amateurs Min Sol Kim, Yeji Park and Su Min Oh are really tall young ladies and all hit the ball a long way. I'm really interested in seeing how Min Sol or Min Byeol will play with a possible win in sights. It would be historic if Min Sol pulled it off; I honestly don't know if an am has ever won this event before. Hwaiting!

Da Som Ma gave Min Byeol a gift on hole five by three putting for as double bogey. Then Min Byeol got careless and hit into the hazard on hole six. She didn't hit a good forth shot and made bogey.
Da Som Ma also hit into the hazard on hole ,but hit her fourth shot close and made par.
That was a pretty poor putt by Min Byeol for birdie.
Another missed makeable putt by Min Byeol for birdie. She putts great when the caddie doesn't read putts for her.
Some poor shots on par five sixteen by the Leaders, this has been boring.
A clutch par save by Da Som Ma may have sealed the deal.
I can't imagine Min Byeol or Ji Won Hon making a birdie coming in, not the way they are playing.
Hold the Presses!!! Ma Da Som just hit her bunker shot across the green close to the hazard. She made a double bogey and is now tied for the lead with Ji Won Hon going into eighteen. Min Byeol lipped out her par putt that would have tied her for the lead.
OH My God!! Min Byeol made a great birdie to tie for the lead. Good luck to her because i will not wait for the playoff.

Round 4
What a crazy final round. After a double early by Da Som Ma and struggles by Ji Won Hong, Min Byeol Kim had a two shot lead. But that quickly evaporated due to nerves, and eventually it was Ma who got a two-shot lead over Kim and Hong. It looked over, with neither of the others able to make birdies to cut into Ma's lead. But on 17 Ma made a hash of it, making a double bogey after hitting the ball back and forth over the green. Alas, Kim lipped out her par save, so they went to the last with Ma and Hong tied at 12 under and Kim one back.
They all had birdie tries on the last, with Kim about ten feet away. After the other two missed their birdies, Kim drilled a thrilling birdie to get to 12 under and force a three-way playoff. It was the putt of her life and she delivered.
Playing 18 again in the playoff, Kim was in the identical spot as before, while the other two missed longer birdie tries and made pars. Kim had a putt for the win but alas just missed. On to playoff hole #2.
Ma hit her tee shot into trouble and was done. Hong put her shot over near the trouble but stayed out. Kim's tee shot was perfect and long. But then Hong somehow got the ball within about four feet of the hole. God knows how she did it from that position, it was a great shot. Kim hit the green but was twenty feet past the hole, and she was not able to make the must-make birdie. Hong did and she had the win.
I was rooting hard for Kim to become the second youngest behind Jiyai Shin to ever win this event, but it was not to be. She came so close, barely missing the birdie try on the first playoff hole. She should be proud of rallying like she did with the great birdie on 18. Congrats to Ji Won Hong on her win. She isn't a very accomplished player, so it's hard to know if this was a fluke or the beginning of something big, but at least for this week, she is the queen.
P.S. did they move the hole position between playoff holes? It sure looked like it was more accessible in the second playoff hole than the first. I'll have to watch again...
[EDIT]: yes, they did change the hole between playoff hole 1 and 2, in fact making it a lot more accessible, in the back portion of the green away from the water. What a big break for Hong. From where her tee shot had landed she NEVER would have gotten close to the old position, which was guarded by the water.
