I'm on the shuttle to the course ... it'll be around 92F today ... never been here before ... A Lim Kim is a WD ... the juniors were added to the LPGA tee sheet, which is convenient ... traffic was okay getting here, but leaving at rush hour near the airport, yikes!

Yuna rolled in a 6-footer at #1 to save par, still -2 ... scorer said she drove it in water ... playing w/ Haeji and Moriya. The brook that runs through #1 on the left side has a gorgeous lining of stones and bunkers ... you'd never imagine Jimmy Hoffa buried here.

The EMP has the 1st team on the bag, but she still opened w/ two bogies, now -6 ... found far-left of fairway at #3 ... hit the green but is way left of flag ... grouped with Darquea whose play is a mess, but still has more obvious logos than Lilia Vu. She carries a fat Titleist U-510 3-iron. X. Yin is -1 on 1st two holes, but her approach at #3 almost rolled off front. No standard bearer w/ group and I'm the lone spectator. KT made par at #3 ... went over green at par-3 4th ... hit fast bump-and-run that fortunately hit the flag ... made 3-footer for par. No 4 flag is on far right with little space in front, behind or right ... safe shot is to left, but Saso went straight for it ... hit 6 feet short of flag and spun back ... looking at 12-footer from collar ... missed and made par. Buhai rolled in a big one for birdie and Inky made par.

Coaches from U. Florida, U. Virginia, UCLA and Wake F. following the Clemente junior group at #2 ... I'm waiting at #2 for Anna Davis group.

Worst volunteer job is standard bearer in junior match w/ Stableford scoring ... omg, they give out points for bogeys or better, so this guy is constantly digging into his bib pockets to update three scores on both sides of the board ... what a nightmare.

Waiting to see Davis hit driver ... rinsed a 3W tee ball at #5 and took a generous drop IMHO ... maybe it looked different to her ... I thought her ball was over the water the entire time after it crossed the tee box in front of her! Kay Cockerill drove by to say hello.

No. 7 is listed at 418, but the blocks are at 384 ... Davis hit it 264, a mid-height, piercing mini-draw. No bucket hat for her, but her loop has one ... I think her dad is following along. She's gaming old-school Titleist muscleback irons with a straight horizontal line across the back. Vanessa Borovilos (in a Team Cannuck uniform) hit it 281. Don't know about the third, Kiara Romero, who was in right rough ... beautiful swing, but might need more horsepower.

Mo Stacks just walked off #16 at +10 ... how much more punishment can she take out here? EK Pedersen is in same group and Man Bun is tagging along as a spectator ... the third is Steph Kyriacou who needs to find at least one stroke on the last two holes.

Steph hit it stiff at #17 and made birdie, but can't let up now. No. 18 is about 413 with a fairly wide Fw ... moderate breeze off the river from right-to-left ... good swing, probably left-center ... will check now ... projected cut is even.

Steph blew it ... hit weak iron into deep front bunker ... splashed out to 9 feet and missed putt.
A most unusual tournament practice range .... it's far away from the ropes, but there's a long rectangular shaved area in between with practice putting holes. Hall's bag is near me, she carries a Titleist T200 4-iron, Cally Apex Pro Forged irons and Vokey wedges.

Joined the group of Big Ryu, Creamer and Aditi at the par-3 2nd hole. The Pink One seemed distraught ... after hitting, she walked over to the ropes and said a few words ("scared" was one of them) to dad and was fighting back a sob ... she might be in pain ... was talking to dad again before hitting at par-4 5th (mom is also here). Ryu made a nice par saver putt at #3, but botched a doable birdie putt on #4. She just had a long putt at #5 that slid by 7 feet ... missed the comebacker. The breeze has picked up all over the course ... cut is now +1.

The par-5 6th measures drives ... into strong wind, Ryu reached the 260 hashmark, however the tee was 8 paces ahead of the back line. She stuffed her 3rd shot to 7 feet and made the putt. There are some striking buildings just beyond the trees on the south side of the course ... I don't know this area at all. I also see many examples of the unofficial state bird (Canada goose) residing on this property.

Fassi pounded her drive at the par-4 7th, leaving her 95 yards in and well ahead of Chang and Then. However, the So.Cal duo stick it close and make birdies, while Fassi dumps it into the front bunker, followed by belting the base of her bag with the clubhead ... still made par.

Katsu has her socks and shoes off at #1 ... hit her recovery towards green, can't see how well, though. These will be hot photos in Japan soon.
Update - went over green, chipped 20 ft. past hole and made the putt!!!

Following The Zhangster ... at #6 (500 yds), she reached the 246 hashmark ... Chella at 230 and Gimmee at 282! ... and hit the green in two, the other two hit layups.
