Arrived at 7:42 AM ... can't belive it took 57 minutes, but there is no fast and direct route for me to get here. So far, looks the same as 5 years ago for the Polo Junior. Morgan Metraux was first player I saw in parking lot ... Min Lee arrived in a Tesla. Wonder if Min is still playing Akira irons. Live scores: Www.golfgenius.com/pages/4182839

The USGA time bandits are out in force ... overheard walkie-talkie squawk about warnings being issued. Min Lee has TM P770 irons. Sergas has a leather stand bag, but the Cognizant pros brought their tour trunks ... 36 holes, have fun you caddies. Kumkang getting in some chips ... they have TM practice balls here. Let me compliment Kerr on far left of range, she borrowed a UMCC member's stand bag for this ... looper should thank her.

USGA says these players should complete their rounds in 4 hrs & 30 minutes ... I didn't know we were playing at Fantasyland CC. Haeji Kang was already 9 minutes behind when she hit her drive at par-5 2nd hole! WW Zhang in the group ahead won't help, but they had to wait, too. Course is set at only 6259 yards ... long or short golf courses don't cause slow golf, but BAD golf does. Gaby Then and Metraux in same group ... Gaby has a Joseon Empire bag ... I forget what that endorsement means, but Ilhee Lee had that bag at the Seaview.

I'm behind 2nd green where Crusty barely missed 12 ft. birdie putt, still using Odyssey 2-ball wand. She hit out of rough that looked worse than what i saw at UMCC last week. Then she barked "down" and "sit" as tee ball at short par-3 3rd rolled off back. No. 2 is only 468, but into wind and all uphill ... no one is getting there in two, although I haven't seen bombers LeBlanc and Vongtaveelap play it yet. I'd like to pace off their drives on a LEVEL par-4 or par-5 ... can't remember if ELCC has one. JTibs has arrived at 2nd green, leads at -4.

Just looked up the scores of the two young ams with JTibs ... they are getting killed! It surprised me because they looked like good golfers from the tee box. Olivia Pak and her daddy(?) caddie have almost matching J Lindeberg outfits. Yue Xu has a Tulane outfit and stand bag ... her looper has JL shirt. A non-Asian guy in a JL shirt is following this group closely ... I think I've seen him before. Lastly, I think there's a mom here, not sure for which player. From head to toe, every detail of her golf outfit was planned .... expensive!

First time following Schubert and she got a little steamed up. Was Even with four holes left in morning round ... missed about a 7-foot birdie putt at #6 and had lots to say to her caddie (I've seen him before, looks like Ricky Fowler). No. 7 is downhill par-3 of 148 and she dumped it into a front bunker, producing more chatter and a thigh slap ... splased out to 3-4 feet and 3-putted. Was fortunate to make par-saver at 8, followed by routine par at #9, finished with +2, 73. Better do a LOT better in the PM, par isn't good enough against this field. She's playing with Claire Wright of the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears ... that's a new one on me. The other player was NJ golf fixture Noelle Maertz. Just looked at Schubert's bag ... carries a fat Cally Paradym 5-iron ... otherwise, carries the typical Cally forged irons and Jaws wedges.

Standing in shady overhang in front of pro shop ... a player named Amanda thanked the guys at the nearby committee table and said, "I have to go back to work now." She was +20 in the AM before they removed her online numbers.

Inky just signed off on a -2 round near the 9th green, but you'd never know it from the look on her face. Looks like T-Mac on her bag. Meanwhile, over at par-3 3rd, JTibs is on cruise control ... the wind has picked up, but didn't stop her from sticking it to 10 feet ... tap-in after narrow miss.

How many can qualify from this? Low four players, plus two alternates.

Tale of the Tape: Par-4 13th is 390, one of the flatter holes with the landing area maybe a wee bit higher than the tee box. With a noticeable breeze at her back, Vongtaveelap belted one four paces past a marker saying it was 77 to the middle of the green ... Alana Uriell was 43 paces shorter and Jessie Kweon (looking good in Louis Castel) was 48 back. Odd scene: while no one was at # 16, they ran sprinklers on the lower part of the fairway for 7-8 minutes.

No. 15 is 355 and comes back against the wind ... Vongtaveelap hit it 8 paces in front of the 102 marker, but I was downrange and don't know if it was driver or less (I'm guessing less) ... and she's now tied with JTibs at -5.

A rules guy in a cart gave a quick gentle warning to WW Zhang's group on pace of play. They're finishing up on par-17th green, while Vongtaveelap's has completed the par-4 18th.

WITB:
Vongtaveelap - PXG 0311 GEN 5 irons and Monstar headcovers (shaft brand, I assume). Toulon putter headcover.
G. Kaur- Ping i525 irons.
Inky - #5/25 degree TM Stealth utility iron.
Carla Bernat (Tulane) - Callaway Rogue ST Pro irons.
*****
Par-4 4th listed at 415 with two downhill landing areas. With the wind, Vongtaveelap aimed a little left and found the left side of the lower level, about 75 from green-center. Her wedge approach came in low and skipped 30+ feet past hole ... downhill putt was 8+ feet short, but made par-saver.

I'm with The Kangster at par-3 7th where she just made clutch par save ... her online score is three holes behind ... don't know if she's still tied for lead.
