Even thou So Yeon is short off the tee she hit a decent number of greens thirteen of eighteen.
But this time it was her putter thirty-three that let her down.
It looks like she is not far from scoring better than she has been.

Hae Ran should be able to knock off these criminals.

What's wrong with this picture short driving Chella Choi seven birdies one bogey six under par.
Hae Ran Ryu with an Eagle couldn't manage two under par to get into the playoff.

Jin Young Ko had six birdies and five bogeys which doesn't seem like an injured player.
I wonder if she is another one of those genius golfers that tried to change a great swing.  

Round 4

During the first talking heads segment, Pressel actually said that the course had been 'set up for excitement', a phrase I have made fun of several times in the past. Morgan, we know what that means: you've dumbed it down so literally anyone can win. And lookie here: you have a tournament full of top players producing middling results and a bunch of people who have never won before in the hunt. Congrats, mission accomplished!

Hae Ran did OK but her putter was not hot enough to get the job done. She still managed an unexpected eagle-birdie to briefly glimpse at the leaders, but could not birdie 17 and that was that.

But man, the 18th -- I've rarely had a mixed reaction like I had there. Great shot, terrible commentating. Hae Ran puts her tee shot under the elevated green and gets the idea she's going to hit into the hill and roll it to the flag. And incredibly, it works and she very nearly sinks it for birdie. Fantastic shot from a great talent. Do you think the commentators are going to give her credit? Pressel: 'that was one of the most spectacular shots...' OK, that's good, but she continues 'complete guessing game'. No it wasn't! WTH? What a snotty thing to say! Terry: 'I know it's guesswork to some extent, but that was beautiful'. Damning with faint praise, but he was in general more positive than the others. 'I think even she was surprised by that result'. OK, maybe a little, but she knew what she was trying to do. She wouldn't have tried something like that if she didn't think she could pull it off. Then Karen says, 'Just magnificent'. Wait for it... 'Sean Clewes her caddie was really talking her through that'. Can you even imagine them undermining a great shot from Lydia or Brooke that way? The Korean needed the caddie to tell her how to do it I guess. The caddie she's firing because she can't communicate with him 'talked her through that'. But if Nelly does a shot like that, that would be pure genius. Give me strength.



The sad thing is that they don't even know they are doing it.

Anyways, congrats to Hae Ran, nice rally by Hye Jin to get a top 20, and fantastic 65 by Chella. Hwaiting!

I don't consider this an opinion really; it is a case of someone not fit for a job. I will go so far as to say she is the worst commentator I have ever heard in all of sports broadcasting. Normally people are hired for commentators who have a natural affinity for speaking extemporaneously. Such people might be considered exceptional but they are hardly rare. That Morgan Pressel is the best that women's golf media could find, suggests a bleak outlook for the whole business. Listening to her try to fake her way into broadcasting is not a pleasant experience and with her at the mic, the LPGA can only lose viewers over time. Comcast has to know how bad the situation is, they simply have no other choices. I hate to be this nasty but I don't think you can find a worse talker anywhere on the TV.
