Yewon has a six-shot lead with one round to play. In the broadcast, the English language guy said that she has been working on treating the final rounds like Thursday; instead of thinking ahead to a possible victory celebration, she'll be playing like there is a lot of golf left to be played. We'll see if this strategy pays dividends. She's certainly in the driver's seat right now. Hyun Kyung looked like she wanted to crawl into a hole and die. At one point she thought her ball might have moved in the wind, and she look so "done with this s**t" as she rolled her eyes and shrugged in total frustration. Still made the six foot par save, though. Min Byeol Kim looked pretty good all day, but after I went to bed she made a three putt from close range. That had to be a product of exhaustion, because other than that she was fine. You Min had an 81. Welcome to the tour! Hwaiting! Let's get that win, Yewon!!!

After round two. klpga.co.kr/web/media/newsDetail.do?kind=20&sn=109865, the English commentator must have been alluding to this. The English commentator is in Canada or something and after three hours thought it was quitting time for some dumb reason since the YouTube stream continued for two more hours in silence. hahahaha The English commentator in Singapore is busy with other tours and won't broadcast until the major at the end of April. He likes Yewon a bit and has more emotion in his voice over the course of the broadcast. Also, he attempts to read the putts. Whereas this dude tells you what you just saw and as such doesn't add a whole lot to the broadcast most of the time. I have access to the SBS app and the Korean Stream on my phone. It continued until the final putt also. After round 3: klpga.co.kr/web/media/newsDetail.do?kind=20&sn=109877I watched live from about 8 to 18.

klpga.co.kr/web/home/highlightDetail.do?type=naver&movieId=34759640Lotte 3R highlights Tough day for Hee Jeong Lim, at least it was after she made the cut. Hopefully she will keep competing until the last putt dropped the final round. Kudos, to Ga Young Lee with an even par round. After making the cut with a birdie on eighteenth hole she moved up thirty eight places. It wasn't just one player that played under the tough conditions they all had to. I didn't see the last five holes; He Won Lee made some great par putts front nine.

Another note was that no one shot under par on the tough third round. Also, Ga Young Lee was the only golfer to shoot even par. I don't remember that has ever happened before.

The English commentator is in Canada or something
Okay, that explains his pronunciations. I'm not bothering with him anymore ... starting at 10 PM my time, I'm sticking with the two Korean ladies (they used to do the JLPGA rebroadcasts) unitl I pass out from lack of sleep. One of them is ex-JLPGA winner Hyun Ju Shin. I don't know what they're saying and I don't care.
********
Yushing Li ... where did the Chinese player come from? During Round One, they played back an interview and she seemed to be speaking Korean without any difficulty. The article above explains her background ... says she moved from China to ROK at age 8 with her mother and attended Korean schools.

Yushing Li is a Chinese national and as you said moved to Korea when she was 8. She learned Korean, natually as a child. She is the first foreign national to qualify for a KLPGA tour card via the same route all Korean youth must do. She climbed the ranks the same way Yewon and Hyun-Kyung etc did.

Hee Jeong Lim had an ok round with five bogeys and three birdies. I liked the fact that she didn't quit and made two birdies on last three holes. She didn't miss many fairways, but a lot her approach shots was either long or short of the holes. According to shot tracker. However because of the weather condition, it's not the time to worry about her change to Taylormade irons. I always thought that Bridgestone irons are among the top five and Taylormade drivers are great, not their irons.

Boy, if Yewon lets this one slip away she's going to be thinking about it for a long time. It's now down to two, and her opponents Jun and Ji Young Park are outplaying her, and with four holes left anything can happen.
I'm remembering the Match Play, where she had the lead or a share all the way 'til the last hole, then lost. Nothing matters except how she plays the next four holes. If she does that well, she'll have the answers she needs.
Hwaiting!!!

Yeah, Lee Won is making this look harder than it should be, but she's probably in the clear since Ji Young Park just took a penalty drop at #15. BTW, who is Ye Sung Jun? She had six top-10s in 2022 ... had to be with mirrors ... hits it like a women's club champion.
Nice to see the alluring and mysterious Song Yi Ahn get some airtime today ... has she ever played outside the ROK? I don't remember ... probably not ... I'd like to see her on a bigger stage at least once before she's over the hill.

Yewon hit a champion's tee shot on the 14th and made birdie to go back to a three-shot lead. But Jun was closer on 15, and missed the birdie by a few inches. Whew, that was close. Lead is still three with three to play.

I've got the taped JLPGA on the other channel ... Yamashita is in a dog fight with one of the brutish Iwai sisters ... ruh roh, Iwai just hit into the right cart path area at #17.
Back to Korea ... Yeah, Lee Won has this one wrapped up with one hole left. As for Linn Grant, I can't find a Sunday pic of her ... you'd think a perfect bowling score would get her one. Her path to the Rolex top-5 was diverted onto an uncompleted off-ramp into the East China Sea.

Jun scrambled a lot on 16, got a little lucky on her approach, and managed to save par. But she hit a dreadful tee shot on 17, hit a great pitch to four feet, but missed the par. That's more than likely it. Four shot lead for Yewon with one to play. There is water on 18, but if she plays conservatively she should be gold.

Yup, Yewon made par on 18 and collected her first ever win. Congrats to her!
