Jin Young was decent tee to green, but just missed too many makeable putts today. She should be feeling positive, though, as she's not the type who misses those kinds of putts multiple rounds in a row.
They didn't show In Gee, who is t-14th and 6 back, but Six got a lot of love. She had a couple bogies starting the back nine, but otherwise played great and finish t-3rd, four back. Hyo Joo's highlights included a chip-in; she won this event two years ago, so you know she likes it here. She's also at 4 under.
Also lurking are Hye Jin, Na Rin An and A Lim Kim.
Great round by Hyo Joo Kim to tie for second place with six birdies one bogey.
Jin Young Ko put herself in the mix with eight birdies one bogey, missed only one green. Had four birdies one bogey her front nine, four birdies no bogeys back nine.
It's a process with Jeongeun Lee6 with four birdies two bogeys. She did come back with two birdies after two bogeys dropped her to minus four. She hit only eleven greens and some of the missed greens was by a lot. Also, it looked like her playing pairing were out driving her by fifteen or twenty yards.
Sei Young Kim plus one had a quadruple bogey on twelve made three birdies after that.
Chella Choi was her steady self with a sixty-eight.
Great comeback round by Jin Young to get right into the mix, just three back. They managed not to show her once that I saw, but hopefully that won't be the case tomorrow. 65, 17/18 GIR, only one bogey. That's two great rounds in her last three. This is starting to seem more like the Jin Young of old. Fingers crossed!
In Gee also crept to 5 under, 5 back. Just a little better and she can be a factor, too. She has tended recently to play better on the weekend.
Hyo Joo has a very vocal fanbase. She's giving them things to cheer about, too!
Six... Well, before the break, she was great, but didn't quite return to form after the break. But so far it's been a solid week, and she's still only four back.
I think we can now shut down the "what's wrong with" threads on this forum.
Ting Ting on Thursday ... tied for first on Team Chunkook going into Sunday ... speaking of Sunday, that is Ting Ting's and Mini-Ting Ting's birthday ... sometimes the little one loops for big sis, but I don't know if she's there this week.
Team Furue on Thursday
Chairwoman Mao ... forget about covering your JLPGA punishment payment.
Another great round by Jin Young Ko sixty-five to take a two-stroke lead into the Fina round.
Hyo Joo Kim seems to lose her concentration after missing a three-foot birdie putt on hole nine. It would have given her the outright lead of minus twelve. She then made a terrible double bogey on ten, made two other bogeys and a birdie.
Another fabulous round by Jin Young in tough conditions. This is what we've been missing all those months she struggled with her wrist. Simply fabulous all-around. She might have walked into Sunday with a four or five shot lead but Nelly Korda hung tough at the end, setting up a really interesting battle for Sunday.
This is the first time Jin Young has held the lead in any round since April of last year. So it's been a while, but if she can keep her focus she has a great chance of wrapping this one up tomorrow. Man, I can't even remember the last time I had someone to root for going into the final round of an event. Go Jin Young Go!
Alas, the other Sisters stumbled. For half a round Hyo Joo looked like she had a great chance. I think I missed what happened on the one par five. Didn't she have a chip for eagle that just missed the hole? Next thing I know, she's teeing off on the next hole having made bogey. She somehow three-putted from like eight feet. Then she missed another short putt on the next hole. That was essentially three shots she lost there. Well, other than that she's been great this week and this year.
In Gee and Six had a disappointing third round. Dumbo was in a position at the start of the day where she could have moved into contention or fallen back, and unfortunately she did the latter. A top ten is still doable, but it looks like another 15 - 35th place finish coming up. Six has shown more flashes of brilliance, and it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see her have a great round Sunday.
Meanwhile, it is time for Ko to go go go! Good luck and go get 'em, Jin Young!!!! Hwaiting!
That putt on 17 was really impressive. I thought she had missed it the whole way, then it curved back and it dropped. Too bad she just missed the birdie on 18, but she's still in a great position. Go Jin Young Go!
