Minsun Kim (not the golfer, obviously) has been gathering more and more momentum in long track speed skating the past year. On the 27th, she beat the record for 500 meters at the Korean Winter Games held by the legendary Lee Sang Hwa. Lee's record of 38.10 was set in 2016. Kim's time was 37.90. This is on the back of two golds in 500m at the ISU World Cup in November. She came close to Lee's World record of 36.36, skating 36.96. She also won three titles at the World University Games in Lake Placid and won a silver at a meet in Norway in the 1000m, becoming the first Korean woman to ever finish that high in this event; even Lee only managed a bronze in her best result in 1000m. Best of luck the rest of the season to her and team Korea! Hwaiting!
